An Inkspiration Christmas!

Hey everyone!

This week for Inkspiration we are doing a Christmas showcase. The ones I am showing are projects I taught in my very last workshop for the year. I had a great time and the girls enjoyed themselves too! I got the ideas for these little beauties in several different places. Delys Cram for the Jelly Bean Elf, Julia Leece for the cute santa owl and I have seen heaps of different candy cane mice, but not sure whose first I saw. Thank you ladies for the wonderful inspiration.

Aren’t they just the cutest?! I am going to make more Elf legs for the kids at Christmas and hang them in the Christmas tree, but I will be putting red and green M&M’s in those. Maybe even some of those mice! LOL!

Inkspiration Challenge #99

Hey everyone!

It’s Inkspiration time! This week it is a sketch challenge and a square one at that.

I Think this would be a perfect scrapbook page LO but I stuck with the card. See I am boring aren’t I?! LOL! It’s just when I saw this design an idea came to me to use that large panel as a patterned scene, like wrapping paper and the three panels can be used for the sentiment.

Have a look

I like how it turned out and also how neutral it is. I used subtle hints of Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party. It looks better close up. For the sentiment I used Cherry Cobbler embossing powder. It makes the card ‘pop’ I love it. I used stamp sets Jolly Bingo Bits and Welcome Christmas.

Inkspiration Challenge #98

Hey everyone!

I am super excited!!! Tomorrow I am leaving for Rockhampton to my sisters’ for two weeks to help her with her first baby which is due today. I hope she holds out until I get there! LOL! I am going to be an Aunty for the first time and like I said I am super excited. I might even bring back my little nephew with me, but shhhhhh my sister doesn’t know yet that I night be stealing her baby!!! LOL!

Anyway todays challenge is a colour one

I am really happy with my creation. I had a play with Stitched Stockings a stamp set available in the brand new Summer Mini.

I also used the stamp set I Dig You for the presents. Pretty cute idea huh? I am sure I am not the first to think of it though. LOL! The Christmas tree branch is from the Tags Til Christmas set. I just used my Old Olive marker to ink with. Super easy.

Make sure you check out the rest of the DT’s creations at the Inkspiration Challenge Blog and of course to submit your design.

Oh by the way, even though I am going away for two weeks I will still be doing the challenges. I have worked ahead and have organised scheduled posts. So do come back and check them out.

Inkspiration Chellenge # 97

Hey everyone!

It’s Inkspiration time! This week it is a sketch.

I played with Field Flowers. I hadn’t pulled it out since the last field flowers card I made back in September, not even to experiment. So I thought it was time to pull it out again. I also pulled out my Wonder Crayons and had a play. Of course some made their way to the bin because I wasn’t happy with them but even my favourite one ended in the bin because it suffered an irreversible or hideable markings. It was one step away from being finished too!  I was devastated! LOL

Anyway here’s the fourth attempt!

I stamped the bolder image with the crayons and then the outline image in ink. I love this effect and might play with it some more. Maybe with the Hello Friend set. I think that would fabulous.

Don’t forget to check out the Inkspirations Challenge Blog to submit your creation and have a bo peep at the rest of the DT’s gorgeousness.

Inkspirations Challenge #76

Hey everyone!

Can you believe it’s Inkspiration time already?! Time is just flying by. I have lots to do and no time to do it in! LOL! This weeks challenge is a colour challenge and it was a bit of a toughy! I’m not a huge Poppy Parade player. But hey it’s not called a challenge for nothing.

Here’s the colours

I had a play with watercolouring, followed by Shimmer Painting!

It’s quite basic, but I don’t mind how it turned out. I did a little masking, a little colouring, and daubed the two main flowers with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. I did use Baja Breeze….I promise! I coloured it lightly over the leaves….can you see it, well can you?! LOL!

Don’t forget to head on over the Inkspirations Challenge Blog to submit your creation and check out the rest of the DT.

Inkspiration Challenge #74

Hey everyone!

It’s Inkspiration time again! This week is a colour challenge –

I have to admit I have been sitting on these colours for a while. I thought I would work ahead in the challenges, but these colours were stumping me. I actually made quite a few creations in these colours before I settled on this one. I think I just wasn’t in a Melon Mambo mood! LOL!

I do like this one, even though I made up my own exotic flower, I actually pulled out the Fifth Avenue SS. This is something I haven’t done in a long time.  The stamens in the middle of the flowers would have looked nice in So Saffron though, don’t you think?

Well I hope you like the end result anyway! It’s the best I could do…..LOL!

Inkspiration Challenge #71

Hey everyone!

This weeks Inkspiration was a little tough for me…..I am not even sure why. It is a gorgeous sketch and easy to work with….maybe it was all the options that were leaping at me as soon as I saw it. It is hard to narrow it down sometimes. I also picked up a couple of tricks at convention I wanted to try. Teneale’s ruffled ribbon and Delys’s Shimmer paint and chalk mix. The perfect set to combine these techniques was the Nature Walk set.

Here’s a closer look at that fabulous bird

To colour him in I mixed Not Quite Navy Chalk with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. After the initial all-over coat. I dabbed the bird with the brush to give more texture. I then used an Early Espresso and Crumb Cake marker to colour his beak and feet in. So simple but so effective. Thanks girls for all the inspiration at convention. I am full of ideas, I just now have to adapt them to my projects. All the DSP is from the coordinating pack Botanical Gazette. Love this paper and must buy more.

Well I hope you have a chance to play and head over to the Inkspiration Challenge Blog to submit your creation and check out the rest of the DT.

Inkspiration Challenge #69

Hey everyone!

Right now I am at convention……I am sure I am having an absolute blast, LOL! I will let you know all the deets when I get back. I will have lots to tell you!

So this weeks challenge!

Isn’t that a super cute sketch?!

My submission,

I really love how this one turned out. I haven’t played with faux roses for a while……actually ever since my presentation at Brisbane Regionals. With this card I was actually going to do it in all brown tones for that vintage look…..but I just couldn’t do it….Cherry Cobbler was screaming at me to be pulled out of its slot in the ink caddy! LOL! I also then added Pretty in Pink and Old Olive. If you’re wondering how I stamped the main image, I stamped it with Early Espresso and then clear embossed it, but that was when I thought I was doing all brown tones. I used the Aqua Painter to colour my image.

To make these particular flowers I first did the Faux suede technique where you separate the papers fibres in two. This made the flowers more pliable to create the rolled petals. I used the Little Leaves die and cut it up for the leaves.

Inkspiration Challenge #68

Hey everyone!

Time for another Inkspiration challenge, this week it is a colour challenge and the colours are of a subtle variety.

They are my favourite subtle colours…..except the blue, I lean more towards the Baja Breeze for a blue. Not sure why, I just do. LOL!

Here’s my submission,

I hadn’t played with the For Everything stamp set for a while, it also suited the subtles perfectly. I stamped the sentiment and embossed it in white. I then coloured in the word Thanks with a white gel pen. I could have also used the embossing pen and white embossed again. My way was the lazy way! LOL! I used a blender pen to colour my images and of course a Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the stems and leaves. This card is actually quite pretty in real life. My photos just could not capture the beauty!! LOL!

Inkspiration Challenge #67

Hey everyone!

We are back!!! YAY!!! I know it was only a week off, but it felt strange not blogging an Inkspiration Challenge! LOL! I must say though I really needed it. Life’s been throwing the Brown family some curve balls of late, but I am sure we will get through it just like we get through everything else.

This week we are sketching it!

and of course my adaptation,

I am loving the Sew Suite set at the moment. I must say though……my main image went through about five technique changes before I decided on paper piecing it…..typical, LOL! My fave part would have to be the measure tape being screwed up to look like ribbon. I must say I love my colour combo too. Another selection from the Colour Coach. If you don’t have one of these already you must get one. They are an excellent tool to have when you are stuck for inspiration.

Check out the rest of the DT at the Inkspiration Challenge Blog and have a play with our challenge.
