Inkspirations Challenge #84

Hey everyone!

It’s colour challenge time and this ones a doozy!! I was completely stumped with them and had a couple attempts at it. Of course these other attempts will never see the light of day! LOL! I do like the end result though.

A funky little ensemble, dont you think? Quite a while ago in Stampin’ Up!’s Impression Magazine {only available to demonstrators}, they shared a technique with us, which I have finally got round to doing! LOL! It was about mixing two different coloured embossing powders to give a very different look! The magazine showed us Black and white mixed together and was quite impressive. I did however want the Concord Crush showing through the embossing and opted to mix Clear and Silver.

Here’s a closer look

Gives quite a different look doesn’t it? I might have a go at mixing some other colours and see what happens!

Funky Birthday Invite

Hey everyone!

I had a wonderful day yesterday just relaxing……well catching up on washing isn’t exactly relaxing, but I have no deadlines, and I am not in a hurry to finish any crafting. I can just do my own thing! Today I decided to sit down and make a couple of things ……just to make a couple of things. They were not made for anyone or any craft show. I just made them. I must say that my best work comes out when it is nothing in particular. Strange HUH!

What do you think? I really like it. I cannot take credit for it though. I drew my inspiration from this CARD found on Splitcoast Stampers.

I made the pocket the same size as a regular card and chose the colour combo from the Colour Coach. I hope you like it!

Inkspiration Challenge #44

Hey everyone!

Sorry this is late! But I had a disagreement with Photoshop Elements this arvy…it won….but I came back and gave it what for and I won that round! LOL! I also had trouble with this weeks challenge. I just couldn’t wrap my head around the colours and there are quite a few samples lying in my bin right now! Don’t get me wrong……the combo is fine and dandy it was just my mind telling me I had no ideas! My initial thought was to do something with Extreme Elements but I used that set with the last challenge and I wanted to give you something different to look at. After playing with Awash With Flowers for a while I came back to my Extreme set…..I just couldn’t help it. LOL!

I was hoping the blue would be stronger so it was not so transparent, but I think it would only have worked with the craft ink which isn’t available anyway, but I do like that it is subtle enough for a cool girl card. What do you think?

I also have some photos I took the other day from our visit to the Wivenhoe Dam Spillway. The Wivenhoe Dam is purging water as it as at 100% and we are expecting a lot of rain in the coming months so they are making room. Very important as this dam stops Brisbane from being flooded and was built after the ’74 floods. The Spillway has not been opened for over 11 years and is quite an extraordinary sight to behold. It was so very busy there that Traffic Controllers were called in to handle the crowds. Everyone was dripping wet from the spray but no one cared. The kids were in awe. The power of water is simply amazing. You could feel the force as it rushed past.

On the way out alongside the road was a koala in a tree, we stopped to take photos and were greeted by a very cute and curious looking baby koala being cuddled by mum.

Well that’s it from me! I have a busy weekend getting ready for the craft fair next month.

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #26

Hey everyone!

It’s time for another Inkspiration Challenge and I have to admit I really went for something outside the box. I have been playing around with my stuff of late and making things I haven’ t tried before or for quite a while. It feels great….it’s like discovering stamping all over again! LOL! Does that make sense? With this particular card I went for a ‘grungy’ sort of style……you all know that is so not my thing! I think I succeeded!

  • Stamp Set– Extreme Guitar, Sanded BG, Extreme Elements, Wonderful Favourites
  • Cardstock– Kraft, Basic Grey, Real Red, Whisper White
  • Ink– Basic Grey, Versa Mark
  • Accessories– Brads, Linen Thread, White Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, 1/2″ Circle Punch, Word Window Punch

When I started this card I used Teneale’s technique from a couple of challenges ago? Do you remember her Wanted card where a coloured base was used and then embossed and brayered? I started the same way….but after I brayered I stamped the stars in versa mark poured white embossing powder over and heated, but I also reheated the clear embossing powder, I then quickly poured more white embossing powder over the card. It caught erratically all over the card but that is what I was hoping for…LOL! It gave that messy look as the stars by themselves looked too ‘clean’. I heated to set it! How do you think it turned out? I like it but it’s probably not something I will do a lot of! LOL!
