I have been meaning to do this for quite a while, and that’s to take part in an Artful Stampers Team Challenge. They are up to #48, so it seems I have missed quite a few. Hopefully I can keep this up for a while as I have missed being part of a challenge team, and just crafting in general.
So here is the challenge.
Now when I first saw this combo I was Hmmm….. maybe I should wait for next week! LOL. I have an aversion to Bright Green and Cucumber Crush falls in this category. I just don’t know what to do with it.
But what’s a challenge if you aren’t really challenged, right?! I decided that I didn’t have to use much of the colour, but where ever I used it, it would pop. So the first step with a colour challenge is to find a stamp set that would suit it. I always find myself going for Nature themed stamps when I have the colour green in the combo. Maybe one day I will find another use the colour green.
The first thing I stamped was the yellow flower onto some copy paper to create a mask. I then stamped the flower in the middle, masked it off and stamped the other two in second generation. I then shifted the mask to the other flowers and stamped the leaves. With these I inked the stamp in Mint Macaroon and used a Cucumber Crush marker to flick colour on the base of the leaves before stamping. When all the stamping was complete I then used the Crushed Curry and Mint Macaroon Markers to outline the images. It gave the images more definition and I really like the effect. The word hello was glued on next and it is four layers thick…..see I told you it wold ‘pop’!! LOL
Last but not least the word ‘Sunshine’ was stamped underneath.
You would have arrived from Alison Barclay’s Blog and you will go onto Anna Foster’s.
I decided to have a play with a challenge. It is something I haven’t done in a while and it was absolutely fabulous. One of my team leaders Alisa Tilsner is a designer at Around the World Stampin’ Up! Challenges and encouraged me to have a play. Here is the challenge-
I love colour challenges, it opens you up to so many more possibilities, than say an inspiration challenge. Here is my entry-
I loved playing with the Dictionary stamp as a background on the Peacock card so much, I had a play again. I inked up the whole stamp stamped it off and second generation stamped selective parts of the Dictionary stamp. I use a clear mount stamp, as it is easy to manipulate and bend. What I love about it, is it’s not exact and you never know what you’re going to end up with.
Everything Eleanor is one of my most favourite stamp sets. I just haven’t played with it in a while and it was time to moisten that stamp with some ink. I sponged the edges very lightly with Basic Grey Ink, it really makes the Whisper White border pop.
Something else I haven’t done in a while is play with my Aqua Painter, and I enjoyed that immensely. Colouring improves my stress levels so you can imagine how relaxed I am since the release of the new Blendabilites! LOL.
I hope I have inspired you to participate in a challenge or have a play with one of your favourite stamp sets.
My youngest boy Darcy had his 7th Birthday Party a few weeks ago and I thought I would share some photos of the day.
The only food missing was the hot food. Cheerios, party pies and sausage rolls. As you can see we kept with a colour theme. Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. With the Party invites I used purple for the girls. Here are the invites
The back of the invite was a free download I found. Unfortunately I cannot find the link at this moment. When I do I will update it here. All the other Lego printables, like the cupcake toppers and banners, were purchased from a store on ETSY. You purchase the file, download and then print what you want to use. Super Easy!
They loved the photo booth. I own a Polaroid camera and everyone got to take home their own photo booth pic. The downloadable also included masks, glasses, moustaches and bow ties to use with the photo booth.
Darcy with his best girl Ava!
One of the party games. They had to find the hidden Lego piece in one of these balloons. They were given a tack each and popped them like crazy. Other games included the Tallest building built with Lego in 15 seconds, the best colouring in of a Lego figure in one minute and the piñata! We called ours a pullata! We made our own from the directions we found HERE. Ours had a twist though. David (my hubby) decided we needed more trap doors holding more lollies so that more kids had a go at getting the lollies and so the lollies weren’t released after the first pull! LOL. His creation took several days to create and it was awesome. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos, so I have nothing to share, but I did tell hubby to keep it so we could use it again.
I made the cake with Vanilla cake mix and coloured the layers to suit the colour theme. It was heaps of fun to create and super easy!
Well I hope you liked out little party and if you have any questions please just ask.
I love these tones together and if I could make every card in these I would be a happy girl! LOL!
I now have a love affair going with the Elizabeth stamp set. It’s not only great for the placement of the sentiment but also a good background element if stamped in the right places. I also love the two little banners underneath the vintage brad. They are a cute little element, but they are not too distracting that it draws your eye away from the main image.
I hope you all have a chance to play along this week and share with us what you have created.
I was taking a gander around blog world yesterday and I decided it was about time I had a play with a challenge. It has been a while don’t you think?! One of the first ones I checked was Just Add Ink and they had a gorgeous colour combo challenge. Take a peek
Isn’t that a beautiful combo? But also a challenge for me as I always have a bold colour in the mix, maybe even two, but I don’t class any of these as bold. But I managed to make the Wisteria Wonder pop by embossing it. Have a look
Here’s a closer look
I used the stamp sets Field Flowers, French Foliage and Precious Butterflies for the sentiment. I used one of my favourite brads and the pretty Pool Party ribbon to add an accent. I also used the Woodgrain BG stamp on the base.
It was great having a go at a challenge again…..should do it again real soon!
Before I show you todays delicious stamping eye candy I just wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes for a happier 2012 for the Brown family on my last post. I wish you all a fabulous and prosperous 2012 as well. I plan on making this year less stressful. I am going to cut back on some things and do more of others. I just have to figure out exactly what those things are! LOL!
I know one of them would be to join another DT because I am already missing Inkspirations. I love challenges. So I am going to keep my eye out for that one.
Speaking of challenges the card I am showing you today was the last card I made for Inkspirations but we finished with challenge #100 this one was #101 and it was a colour challenge. Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso, Marina Most and Whisper White
I love this combo! I am also very happy with how this one turned out. Hopefully my dad will like it too.
Another challenge I have set my self is to get back into my scrapping a bit more. I miss my scrapping nights and hope to restart them. There is nothing like getting together with other scrappers and spend a night a week scrapping into the wee hours of the morn. A lot of chocolate was consumed on those nights. LOL! Maybe that’s what I am missing?! hahaha!
I must apologise for being so late in getting my post up. It has been one crazy week I can assure you! lol! This weekend is to be different and no one is going to change it on me……NO ONE!!!
Anyway, on to this weeks Colour Challenge.
I first thought Christmas but I was in the mood for a Baby card, not that it had anything to do with the fact that someine had ordered one, LOL!
I finally used Elebration! This has to be the cutest darn stamp I have ever seen. My friend needed a Congratulations card and I think Elebration is for 1st birthdays, but I still wanted to use it. I decided to make a present out of CS and I then used it to cover the Birthday cake in between the Elephants legs. Pretty cute huh?
Don’t forget to check out the Inkspiration blogspot to see the DT’s creations and of course to submit your own.
