Season’s Greetings

Hello again.

I played with another challenge yet again, but this time it is from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.

Quite a simple design but you can be very creative with this. Some entries already submitted are very clever. Since I am on a Christmas themed stint of card making there are no surprises with my creation.

I am loving the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder as it gives a beautiful pattern in vellum paper. Vellum paper is something I have been using a lot lately. It’s a great addition to any card without making it ‘heavy’. On this card I have backed it with Real Red CS. As you can see I am still on the spritzer wagon. I love the randomness of it.

Oh, and this card only took me 35 minutes to pull together from start to finish…..maybe sketch challenges are the way to go.

See you agin soon,

Kirsty xx

Jingle Bells

Hello again. I am back with another challenge entry. I must say these challenges are helping me get inky even if it takes two days to complete. I did have this one in mind for two challenges, but I have missed the deadline for the Color Throwdown challenge #617 of Kraft, red, dark green and light green. I do, however, have some time left to enter the TGIF Challenge #288. This challenge is all about circles.

I had a quick look through my stamps and found Cherish the Season with all the bells in the set and thought it would work well. I ended up using the matching die set Sounds of the Season to create my bells and used the sentiment out of the stamp set. I have also decided I will probably buy a whole heap more spritzers and create a colour mist for every current SU colour I have. I am definitely addicted. I used Real Red, Frost White and White.

Even though it took two days to put together I liked the end result. Now I am off to find another challenge (hopefully one that doesn’t take me so long to complete…lol).

See you again soon,

Kirsty xx

Artful Stampers Challenge #52

Hello everyone,

It’s time for a Artful Stampers Blog Hop Challenge.

I missed the last one. I have been so busy with getting a horse stable built, time slipped by and I forgot the challenge. Oh well, I am back on track with a groovy colour challenge. Check it out

Artful Stampers Blog Hop Challenge #52

Not a bad combo, but Melon Mambo has always been a challenge for me. It is so bright, and very pink. I would have to say it would be one of the colours I would not reach for. But I figured you can take the emphasis off of it by adding only a little and adding a whole heap of one of the other colours. I chose to use more Crushed Curry

This is what I created.

I enjoyed the process of this one and loved the idea of stamping in between the embossed lines of the Stylish Stripes embossing folder. I will have to do that again. I also inked a doily up with Crumb Cake, cut it in half then scrunched (or roughly folded it) it up and put it behind the Deco Label panel. The sentiment has been clear embossed to make it pop. I love how it turned out.

For the Love of Framelits!!

Hello everyone!

What a weekend I have had….actually make that a week! My youngest has come down with a middle ear infection, poor little thing, he was crying so hard and was inconsolable. I HATE that. You feel so useless and you cannot take their pain away. We are just super lucky our Doctor opens at 8am on a Sunday and we can come in without appointment. We got in straight away without waiting and it was our Doctor that was rostered on that weekend too. Extra bonus!! I love our Doctor! It is so hard to find a good one, especially one so good with kids…….Gee I can go on can’t I?!

Anyway, I have this super cute card to share. I made this a little while ago, I actually made a few of them I liked it so much. My new love is the Framelits Dies and matching Stamp Set Apothecary Art. I just wish I had more time to play! LOL!

I used colours Blushing Bride, Regal Rose and Crumb Cake to colour in the Image using a Aqua Painter. I used Water Colour paper for the image and Very Vanilla for the base and textured section. I also used some of the lusciousness that is Blushing Bride Pleated Stain Ribbon. Love these ribbons.

Festive Friday Challenge #20

Hello everyone!

Time for a Festive Friday Challenge. This week we have an Inspiration photo…..a real pretty one at that.

Isn’t that just gorgeous?! It took me a while to think about what I wanted to do. My thought process is so out of whack. All I could see was the Candy Canes, LOL!

This is my creation

As you can see I made some candy canes, lol! I also used the colour scheme and the ribbon. I used the flourish out of the Always Elegant stamp set in the background, the idea was to make the candy canes ‘pop’ off the page and also to make it a bit more elegant. I think I succeeded! I used the stripes embossing folder for the bottom half of the card to break up the simplicity.

Now don’t forget to head on over to Nicole’s blog and submit your creation and share it all with us.

To My Friend!

Hello everyone!

Are you enjoying all the things I made at retreat this year? I only have two more to share after this one. This one was also a challenge. I had to use the decorative frames embossing folder. It didn’t matter which one. I went with the oval anyway.

I also used some of the Crumb Cake seam binding Madonna gave us.  Yep another freebie from Mads. Did I mention that she is the best upline EVER!! I was also very proud that this was the only Crumb Cake card I made. We all know that this is my favourite colour for cards, LOL! I used stamp sets Friends Never Fade, Elements of Style, French Foliage and Friendly Phrases. I used the colours Crumb Cake, Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla. You may have noticed on my Easter card also the scallop border around the oval. I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch and used the same technique I used on my Elements of Style card. I threaded the seam binding through the sentiment piece and tied a bow. I just used a hobby knife to make the cut. Very simple. I used the Itty Bitty shapes punches to make the flowers and added a pearl in the centre. I love how petite they are. Even though they are so small I think they make a big impact on the overall look.

Happy Engagement!

Hey everyone!

Just the other day I was asked by a friend to create an Engagement card, followed of course by a Wedding card. I haven’t made the second one yet as I have a little time up my sleeve at the moment. But I have to admit I have not made an Engagement card yet. Does that sound weird? I have been to a few weddings and hens nights so why not engagement parties? I will have to look into that! lol!

I was also asked to make this card elegant. This is something I don’t do a lot of. I must say it took all my oomph not to sponge the edges! LOL! I am not entirely sure I pulled it off either…..what do you think?

I used the colours Calypso Coral (my new fave btw), Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla. I pulled out an old favourite SS too, I {Heart} Hearts and mixed it up with a new favourite, Creative Elements. I think they look nice together. The background was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. I think the card is growing on me anyway. Good practice for the elegant Wedding card!

I also made another card today but I am saving it for another day to share. Such a tease aren’t I?!

Inkspirations Challenge #63

Hey everyone!

It’s Inkspiration time, and this time it is a sketch. I had a lot of fun with this one. Maybe it’s because I got to ink up some new rubbah! LOL! Tonight people, I am giving you a sneak peek at a stamp set that will be soon released on April 1st in the new Autumn\Winter Mini. I absolutely adore this SS and the coordinating DSP. I haven’t used the DSP on this card but I am sure in no time I will have it all consumed and I will be buying some more.

I haven’t played with the cracked glass technique in a while so I thought I would with this challenge as there is a panel on the sketch that is perfect for this technique. I love, love, LOVE this technique. Take a look at the sketch-

The colours were selected from the Colour Coach. Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler and Baja Breeze. I added the Dynamic Duo, Basic Grey as well. There is also a teeny bit of Perfect Plum as I needed a fifth colour. Can you spot it? LOL!

A little close up of the cracked glass panel. After cracking the panel I like to rub some ink over it. It gets caught in the cracks and gives them more emphasis. Now my panel does look a little yellow but that is because I sponged Crumb Cake ink over the panel before clear embossing. It looks a little like I have burnt the embossing, doesn’t it?! Oh well you live and learn! LOL! The three panels behind were stamped randomly  then spritzed with Basic Black. I love this tool. I find I am using it a lot lately.

Well I hope I have inspired you to create and have a play with this weeks Inkspiration challenge and I hope to see your submission soon.

Grunge Rock!

Hey everyone!

I thought I would share with you all one of the projects from my Mini catalogue Launch. I liked this one quite a lot actually and it was super quick and easy to put together and to top it off it is a male birthday card! It’s not very often I make one of those for this here blog! I already have the perfect recipient. I just have to make sure I don’t lose it! You are probably thinking how can she lose it? Trust me….I do it a lot….unless of course I have a fairy card thief. I might just see if I can catch one and send it on over to Karen Thomas’s house to steal some cards for me. LOL! Sorry I couldn’t help it! I just love Karen’s cards so much that I would stoop to thievery!

Anyway here is my card-

See I told you it was super easy. Well I hope I have inspired you to pull out Grunge Rock and have a play because as I have just realised card making is super fun and calming. Actually, I think it has a lot to do with the fact my son just started Kindy this week and that might explain the high volume of card making and blog posts this week! LOL!

Inkspiration Challenge #51

Hey everyone!

I have been a very bad blogger of late haven’t I? Well I must say that starting next week all systems should be GO!!  LOL! This is the kids last week at school and I am super excited about the upcoming weeks of non stop crafting!

Anyway this weeks challenge is a sketch and it is super easy and super cute. I enjoyed playing with Pear Pizzazz last week so I picked out another combo and off I went!!

I am loving my new Textured Impressions folder ‘Square Lattice’. Isn’t it gorgeous?! I am so in love with Elements of style at the moment and I have just discovered a gorgeous colour called Blushing Bride! Have you seen it before?! LOL! That might be my next colour of regular playing.
