Inkspiration Challenge #69

Hey everyone!

Right now I am at convention……I am sure I am having an absolute blast, LOL! I will let you know all the deets when I get back. I will have lots to tell you!

So this weeks challenge!

Isn’t that a super cute sketch?!

My submission,

I really love how this one turned out. I haven’t played with faux roses for a while……actually ever since my presentation at Brisbane Regionals. With this card I was actually going to do it in all brown tones for that vintage look…..but I just couldn’t do it….Cherry Cobbler was screaming at me to be pulled out of its slot in the ink caddy! LOL! I also then added Pretty in Pink and Old Olive. If you’re wondering how I stamped the main image, I stamped it with Early Espresso and then clear embossed it, but that was when I thought I was doing all brown tones. I used the Aqua Painter to colour my image.

To make these particular flowers I first did the Faux suede technique where you separate the papers fibres in two. This made the flowers more pliable to create the rolled petals. I used the Little Leaves die and cut it up for the leaves.

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the DT at the Inkspirations Challenge Blog  and submit your design for all to see.

Thanks for dropping by!

Easter Blossom Silk!

Hey everyone!

I have workshops this week and I decided I would teach my class the Faux Silk technique and combine it with an Easter theme. I’m not an Easter card maker and sender, but I do love creating gift boxes for the chocolatey goodness. This time though I made a matching card for the box.

The box design is very similar to the one on page 8 of the Summer mini catalogue but with a few of my own touches added to it.

The card and some closeups of the box’s finer details

Oohh I am liking these closeups!! I might have to do that more often! LOL! The brown paper is the packing from SU deliveries. I just passed it through a shredder. The eggs are Cadbury Mini Eggs and resemble Smarties, M&M’s and the like, they are crisp shell with chocolate inside…..MMMmmmmm…YUMMY!!! I made this project with these eggs in mind. I bought them last year and just loved them. I made this project before I bought them and was hoping that they would make a comeback this year so I could use them specifically for this project. I used colours Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride and Perfect Plum.

Well I best get packing for my workshop!

Some Workshop Goodies!…oh and some candy!

Hey everyone!

I am slowly getting back into the swing of things after a few months of….well how to explain…..it’s been a mixture of things, it started with a very stressful period of home life. Things just build up and up and before you know it you don’t handle things too well and you don’t seem to be in control of anything!! Things were staring to settle when we had a few weeks of flooding (See previous POST), and then the major flooding that wiped out a local town, Grantham. Things are still not good there. People are still missing with a huge possibility of not being found at all, the clean up is still happening and it is absolutely amazing how far spread the debris is. It is still lying all over farmers crops and paddocks, roads, railway and well just everywhere, not to mention the damage to the roads, rail and properties. Things that will take at least 6 months to fix or replace. Grantham is still a “no go zone” for the general public except trucks, heavy equipment, SES, Police, Army, Volunteers and of course traffic control ( hi Theresa).

I want to thank all of my long time followers for sticking by me and sending me words of love and encouragement through the rough times. Even when my crafting time nearly turned non-existent people joined as followers to my blog. I now have 142 subscribers in the short time I added the subscription tab right down on the bottom right. Two of them joined today! WOW! Now I just have to get back on top of my blogging…LOL!! No I promise I will!! I’m being serious….just ignore previous claims of more regular blogging….which didn’t happen….I know, I know, but I am feeling good about this one! Just to prove it I think I will send one of my cards to the 150th person who subscribes to this here blog! LOL! I’m not sure if that proves it but it’s a good start. I will even let the 150th person choose the one card from a selection of three…how does that sound?! Now your probably just wishin’ those three cards were as good as Karen Thomas’s !!!!! ROFLOL!!! I will keep you all updated on how this turns out!

So onto my creation

I’m not sure if you recognise this but on the front of the Sale-A-Bration catalogue there is this gorgeous card. I simply fell in love with it. I didn’t have the appropriate stamps so I improvised. This card will be the project at tomorrows party. {Waving at you Deeann} I am sure they will love it!

I even have some table candy for them, full of chocolate eclairs, of course-

Well I best be going. I still have much to do!

Thanks for dropping by!

What a Day!!!!

Well…….I’m beat! I have just got home and I am hoping for a HUGE sleep in in the morning. But I had the most fantastic day today! Today was Brisbane Regionals and you will never believe it but a week ago I was asked to participate by jumping on stage and do a Workshop WOW!!! Of course I said yes…..how often are you asked to do something like this? During the weekend I was starting to realise, though, that I would be in front of over 200 of my peers……AND what was I going to WOW these people with???? LOL!

Well to cut a long story short I decided to go with paper flowers and I have some fabulous photos to show you. They are from today and also of my WOW samples

First up I did some catching up with friends….I missed getting a photo of my upline Madonna. She ended up behind my camera today taking lots of photos…..Thank you Mads!!

This is Donna Griffith! This lovely lady showed some very cool techniques and also gave us all our own “I {heart} STAMPS” badge just like the one she is wearing. It was super cute and she told us that her and her husband made them all especially for us. How sweet is that?

My name in the bright lights…..well sort of!

My look of concentration! LOL

My samples on screen!

The cameraman, Barry, was simply awesome! He did the most fantastic closeups!

Look at all those people looking at me!! I was nearly hyperventilating!! LOL!

Not sure about that look! LOL!

Having a little laugh with Amanda up the back.

Then Aaron’s turn! LOL!

All the presenters for the day! From left Sophie Zadeh (from SU), Ursula James, myself, Sharon Turnbul, Rebecca Ross and Liz Collette. I hope I have spelt all their names correctly! I think we all had a great time.

Now for my samples

This was the Rose bud flower project. This is the one Stampin’ Up! decided to keep so I took a quick photo there before I handed it over!

I then showcased my scallop circle layer, carnation like, flower. I think this project is my favourite. I then showed two more samples using this flower.

So what do you think?? I know I had an absolute blast…..even if I was extremely nervous!! LOL!

Well I am off to bed! I have had a BIG week and I am super tired…..

Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #29

Hey everyone!

It is Inkspiration time and this week Cindy is hosting. Cindy has also added a twist to the challenge and it is a good one. Unfortunately I cleaned out my stash early this year and gave everything to my daughter and friends. Whoopsy!! ……..BUT wait……. I thought instead I would go through my files and use a technique that I saved to my  ‘do it one day’ file. So I chose a technique that creates an accessory. Clever aren’t I?! I came across a paper flower tutorial that I saved in November last year. I found it on  Amy Waters  blog. These particular flowers have been around a while but Amy has a very good tutorial on how to make them. They are sooo easy but so effective. The perfect accessory! Amy makes the most gorgeous creations, so take the time to check out her blog.

The sketch-

So onto my card-

I just love all these pinks together, they look great together and compliment each other well….and of course what goes well with pink?? Kraft of course! For the Baroque Motif BG I stamped it in Versa Mark and then used the Stampin’ Pastels, Choc Chip and Pretty in Pink and coloured the image by ‘bouncing’ the dauber over the image. I love the subtle effect!

  • Stamp Set- Baroque Motifs, Best Yet, Frames with a Flourish
  • Cardstock- Kraft, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo
  • Ink- Melon Mambo, Sahara Sand, Versa Mark
  • Accessories- Stampin’ Pastels, Melon Mambo Ribbon, 1/2″ Circle punch, Circle Scissors Plus, Daubers, SAMJ

Inkspiration Inspiration Challenge #21

Hey everyone!!

I thought I would let you know first that Keesh is experiencing more technical difficulties and unfortunately will not have the last Inkspiration winners or the current challenge posted as yet. No-one is more disappointed than Keesh is, but as soon as able they will be up for you all to see. So please stay tuned for that.

This time it is an Inkspiration Inspiration challenge and GUESS WHAT???!! I get to host this one. So very exciting! I do hope that you all have a go at playing with this inspiration piece. I find it so elegant and pretty! Take a look-

and here is my interpretation

Not a lot of stamping happening here but I do love how this has turned out and I will be giving this one to that special someone when the time arrives. Can you guess who?? LOL!

  • Stamp Set– Flower Fancy, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
  • Cardstock– Very Vanilla, Rich Razzleberry, Cottage Wall DSP
  • Ink– Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry
  • Accessories– Rhinestone Brad, Scallop Edge Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Big Shot, Polka Dot Embossing Folder

I am loving this scallop punch faux flowers. They are so easy to create and so very effective. I have seen them everywhere of late so I thought I would contribute. The colours in the picture are a little more pink than what I have used but I have been itching to play with the Cottage Wall DSP. So very pretty!! I also used the outline leaves stamp from the Flower Fancy set on the DSP to make my leaves. I think it suits this flower perfectly and will probably use it like this more often. You all know how I like to stamp flowers!

Make sure you visit the rest of the DT to see more fabulous eye candy and leave them all some comment love.
