Boys can be Fairies too!

Hello everyone!

I am having lots of fun scrapping lately, and I have heaps more to share. I completed a double LO yesterday and I absolutely love it. I cannot wait to share, but I want to find the perfect place to take a photo of them. As you will see in the next photo I am getting quite a glare in the spot I am currently using. Which is unfortunate as it is the best place for light. So please forgive me for the crappy photos…LOL!

I attempted a new technique with this LO. I have seen some beautiful things made with melted crayon on Pinterest I thought I would have a go! I have however discovered you have to use a certain type of crayon. Different brands obviously have different amounts of oil in them. As you can see in this photo the first blue from left and the yellow didn’t leave an oily residue around the melted crayon where the rest did. Funnily I am not sure what brands they are as I used my kids crayons and a lot of them have their wrappers missing! LOL! I will play some more and let you know!

Sweet Sunday Sketch #161!

Hello everyone!

Currently Karen who is the creator of Sweet Sunday Sketches is have a DT call on her blog. I thought I would have a go, you never know unless you try right?

So here is this weeks sketch

and here is my submission

I decided to have a play with the My Friend stamp set accompanied by Always Elegant. I did some second stage stamping with the main image of flowers and leaves. I also did quite a bit of sponging to make some of the panels ‘pop’. The little vintage brad was dipped in white Staz-On to change the colour a little.

I hope you all like my card,

Festive Friday Challenge #24

Hello everyone!

It is Festive Friday Challenge time and our challenge this week was FABRIC!! I must say I love our Stampin’ Up! Fabric, but I haven’t played with it too much. So to get some ideas of something different I can do with it I went looking through our Stampin’ Up! magazine Impressions. I came across this gorgeous little creation that I just had to re-create. It so happened it used the Petal Cone die…..another product I haven’t played with much. So the plan was looking better and better by the minute.

And here it is

I have fallen in love with it! I think I might make a few of these the Christmas in the Country Art and Craft show which is coming up in November on the 2nd and 3rd. They could be a hit. Here’s a closer look

To make this I had to adhere the fabric to cardstock and then run it through the BigShot on the Petal Cone die. The flower on the front however is not adhered to cardstock. I diecut the larger flower shape from the Perfect Pennants die, I then folded them in half and half again. I used a hot iron to help me get the shape. I hot glued the four pieces to a 1 1/4″ circle cardstock. I must say I used the hot glue gun to do a lot of the adhering. Magic stuff that! LOL! The little silver bell is just tied on with the white thread through the Real Red button. But the button is hot glued!

Anyway, please link your creation up at Nicole’s blog for us all to see. I would love to know what other people can do with fabric.

Birthday Time!

Hello everyone!

Today is my eldest daughters birthday. My beautiful, gorgeous, kind, and hip daughter, Jemma! Who loves to get kisses by her youngest brother, Darcy

Lat year her favourite colour was purple, well this year it is black and pink. So her card and presents are decorated so.

The ‘in’ thing lately seems to be hexagons, so I thought I would have a play with them on this card. I don’t have any sort of hexagon punch or die so I knew I had to create these from scratch when I realised our Stampin’ Up! Dimensionals were the perfect size and shape.

The splotches is just Whisper White ink refill being splattered over the left hand side of the card and I really like how that has turned out. I may have smudged a couple of drops but I was in such a hurry to finish as I have a few things to do today, being a birthday in the house and all.

Boy Wonder!

Hello everyone!

I have some more scrapping to show you. This one was a workshop LO I made last year. I love the simplicity of this one. But it has come together well.

I used Well Worn DSP. The base colour is Lucky Limeade with Confetti White. I used the Tasteful Trim die for the chipboard scallop edge and inked it in Early Espresso ink. I used Simple Letters Alphabet for the ‘boy’ part of the title and Just Add Cake letter paper for ‘wonder’. I used Extreme Elements stamp set and the colours Early Espresso and Lucky Limeade. I used the scallop circle out of Perfect Pennants and cut out a chipboard drinks coaster and then stamped the big blotchy splatter out of Extreme Elements over it and tucked it behind a photo.

Hope I have invigorated you to crack open your scrapbooking!

Mongoose Redo!

Hello everyone!

I am sure you have all wondered at one point or other why my blog is called Kirsty’s Card ‘N Scrap if I never show the scrap!! LOL! Am I right? If you have been with me from the beginning you would have seen a fair bit of scrapbooking. But for the last couple of years this has been impossible. Yes, I have been scrapping but I have not had a smaller lens for my SLR to take the photos. My original lens was destroyed accidentally. So since then I have been taking photos of my cards with a zoom lens from across the room. LOL! But it was just to darn hard to take one of my scrapping and show some of the gorgeous little detail I am sure you would all like to see! So without further ado here is a page I completed on the weekend

The only Stampin’ Up! product used was the Scallop Circle Punch. Lots of different product was used so I won’t go into detail, but if there is something you would particularly want to know just ask.

I have been editing quite a few LO’s (some SU,some not), today so look forward to seeing them. in the coming week!

Engagement Party Invites!

Hello everyone!

I just recently done up some Engagement Party invites for my sister’s partner’s sister…..did you get that?! LOL! So if my sister and her partner get married it will be my sisters ‘sister in-law’. That makes more sense.

I made a few designs for her to choose from. They all had a similar layout to the Mother’s Day card I made a while back.

Which one is your favourite?

The Elegant Eggplant and Confetti White  is the one that was chosen by the ‘sister in-law’, after a lot of debating. She loved the Calypso Coral one too (my favourite). But hey, they are all nice. lol!

Baby Onesie Cuteness!

Hello everyone!

A couple of years ago my Mum asked me to whip up for her 2 huge cards that her and all her fellow staff could sign for maternity leaving staff. Do you remember them? There was a yellow one with a kangaroo on front and a green one with a hot air balloon on the front. Well, Mum has asked for another one. And I think this is my favourite one by far. I must apologise though I took these photos at night and the quality is a little poor.

Here is a close up of the main image

It is the Elebration stamp and again I have covered the cake with a present that I handmade. It makes this stamp so much more flexible. I also used the ABC block stamp from Little Additions and clear embossed it on the base. Colours used are Wild wasabi, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and Naturals Ivory cardstock for the base.

Festive Friday Challenge #22

Hello everyone!

It is Festive Friday Challenge time and it’s a sketch…

and here is my creation

I have always loved the large Christmas Baubles in the Letters to Santa DSP pack, which are the same images as the stamp in Merry and Type but bigger. As you can see I stamped the image in the background. I used colours, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, Old Olive, and Riding Hood Red. I also tried to keep this card simple with few layers and limited stamping. I used some simple tools to make the card come to life though. I used the distressing kit and inside that kit I used the sanding block and files on the DSP and the Tea Stain Ink on the card base and image panel.

Don’t forget to link your creation to this challenge over at Nicole’s blog and I look forward to seeing them.
