You Brighten My Day!

Hello everyone,

I have been playing with some of my Sale-A-Bration goodies, and also wanted to create some cards to give to some friends who have been there for me a lot lately. I did make another one with a matching wine bottle topper but would you believe I forgot to take some photos. I really loved the design as well. I was just in too much of a hurry to give it away! LOL.

Instead I will share this one which is destined for another friend who has been my rock lately.

You Brighten my Day

Here is a close up of the main image

You Brighten My Day

This was such a simple basic design which would also work very well on a square card.

The star burst stamp is from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set. I very carefully lifted the stamp, after the first impression, did a very slight turn and stamped it again in second generation. If you are not comfortable in doing that free hand you can use a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to help you stamp it perfectly.

The light bulb and sentiment is from the Sale-A-Brtion stamp set You Brighten My Day.

I used some Crystal Effects and some silver sparkle glitter adhesive to enhance the light bulb.

So in all a quick, easy, effective card. I hope you like it.

Thanks for dropping by,

Kirsty xx

You Amaze Me!

Hello everyone,

Again it’s long time no post. I struggle to find the time to blog these days. I don’t even create as often as I used to. Things have changed in the Brown House, that’s for sure. The girls have become heavily involved in horse riding. They attend various clinics and competitions and our usual Pony Club rally days. So most weekends and some weekday afternoons are busy with that. I have this year become Treasurer of our local Pony Club and Vice President of the Primary School my youngest attend. I also volunteer in the Prep-2 classroom once a week, plus I am the uniform shop lady at the same school. I am also on the High School’s tuckshop roster. If that’s not enough, the boys will be starting soccer soon, so there is another item to add to the list. I really do need to organise myself better though, I have been known to triple booking my self on occasion. I now actually have two, yes 2, diaries on the go. One for my business and one for everything else. Maybe I should start putting in designated crafting time!!

I have still managed to hold workshops here from home. I have missed a couple last month, but I am now back in business. I thought I would share with you one of the creations from last week. I have totally fallen in love with it and I hope it inspires you to create one too.

you amaze me

I had a play with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die and turned it into a card pocket. I also created a little coordinating gift box with the Tiny Treat Box.

you amaze me

I used the Crazy About You Bundle to create the title and the delicious Indescribable Gift flower stamp for the image. We used our ‘blendies’ to colour it in.

The beautiful Bouquet Bigz Die was used to create the flower.

These could easily be turned into beautiful invites with a few changes….. I can imagine some pretty special wedding ones, just change the sentiment on the front and put the details on the card inside. I will post below the list of all products used in case you would like recreate these one, or if you are just curious as to what I used

A Little Pistachio!

Hello everyone,

Can you believe I am back already? Well, neither can I. Let’s hope I can keep this going. I want to thank everyone who left comments on yesterdays post. I do love comment love! You were all so kind too about my first attempt back at card making. I feel so out of the loop and I am definitely not up to date on all the current trends, but in time I am sure I will catch up.
So yesterday I decided to make a heap of clay buttons and flowers using some brand new SU product. I made them all in the new Incolors….

Aren’t they gorgeous. Some are a little distorted but I am sure the more I practice the better I will get. I think the Pistachio Pudding ones could use more ink too. They are looking a little grey in this pic, but trust me they are green!

So after having fun making those I decided to make a card using them….well not all of them, just one in fact.

I must say I am really liking the new Incolors. They are simply divine. Here I have used the combo of Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush and Smoky Slate. I have also used the stamp set Mosaic Madness and Itty Bitty Banners. I have used the Modern Medley DSP as well. So do you see my little button? I tied a little Linen thread through the holes. I think it’s stinking cute.

So I might pop off and go and make another card. I might do get off the single layer card and add some layers, will see how I go.

So Grateful!

Hello everyone!

Again long time no post. I don’t know what to say, except I am just not feeling it anymore. I think it has a lot to do with time. I am hardly crafting anymore and I am not sure why. My youngest is now in school and I thought for sure I would have more time to create and play, but I seem to be taking on more things, like I am now working in the uniform shop at the kid’s school on Thursdays and I help out in class each week, sometimes twice. Hubby has also had a change of job which requires him to be away a week at a time and it doesn’t feel right to spend days crafting away. I’m hoping life settles into a rhythm soon that also sees me doing more at my craft desk.

I do however have something to share. It is a card I made for my last ever hostess.

A very quick simple creation, but that seems to be my style lately, lol! So quick in fact that I just coloured the image in with markers….No blending or watercolouring, just whacked those markers on there. I love it! I used Parlor Prints on the bottom of the card to break up the background. The strip of Red Riding Hood stitched Satin Ribbon looks great and creates a lovely border to the non-stamped background.

Thank You Friend!

Hello everyone!

Wow!! I have another card to show you all…..can you believe it?! LOL

This card was made for my very dear friend, Theresa who on the weekend hosted a workshop for me. I was trying to channel her while creating this fun little card. I know she loves layers and texture and things that are ‘vintagey’ (lol). I was told by Theresa that I did extremely well! Yep that’s right!! SHE LOVES IT!!! Actually, I nearly didn’t give it to her as I loved it as soon as it was finished, but hey I can make another one! It may not be exactly the same but close.

You know how I said in my last post that I love the ‘hello’ stamp in the My Friend Stamp Set, well I used it again. Only subtly this time. I also used the large leaf and flower stamp in the same set. I clear embossed them on the card. I did use quite a few sets to finish this one but the main element is from Field Flowers. The colours are Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake, with Very Vanilla as the canvas. I used the technique Emboss Resist just slightly to highlight the embossing.

I do love these sorts of cards even if it took a couple of hours to complete! They are so worth it, especially when you are giving it to a dear friend!

Inkspiration Challenge #78

Hey everyone!

It is colour challenge time!

I had a lovely play with the distressing essentials kit on this one. I actually made this card back in June and was my first play with the kit. I don’t think I did too badly…LOL! But hey, practise makes perfect. I love the end result though….and these colours are right up my alley! To colour my image I used and a Blender pen and my wonder crayons, I love these things. They are so easy to colour with.

Inkspiration Challenge #72

Hey everyone!

I am sure the weeks are getting faster. Didn’t I just do #71 yesterday?! LOL! I must say I love it though. It ensures I keep playing with my goodies and also using the grey matter to create something different each time….well at least I try to! Hehe!

This weeks colours were a little difficult for me. I tried several options but having Not Quite Navy as a predominate colour on this card would just not work. So in the end I used it to stamp the sentiment. It seems a lot like cheating doesn’t it? LOL!

Again this week I played with the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint {so lurve this stuff}. This time though I just stamped the image in Peach Parfait and then using a paint brush, painted the shimmer over the top. You cannot see it too well but I ran a sponge dauber, dipped in shimmer paint, around the edges of the card. You can just see it along the top………well I can anyway! LOL!

Heres a closer look at that flower

I pulled out an old favourite, Petal Pizzazz. I bet you noticed! I seem to go through some favourites don’t I? Currently it is Elements of Style, but that could soon turn into Nature Walk…….but then again French Foliage is a new one I have just acquired! Hmmmmmmm! I will let you know! LOL!

Don’t forget to go to the Inkspirations Challenge Blog to link your creation and of course check out the rest of the DT.

Inkspiration Challenge #68

Hey everyone!

Time for another Inkspiration challenge, this week it is a colour challenge and the colours are of a subtle variety.

They are my favourite subtle colours…..except the blue, I lean more towards the Baja Breeze for a blue. Not sure why, I just do. LOL!

Here’s my submission,

I hadn’t played with the For Everything stamp set for a while, it also suited the subtles perfectly. I stamped the sentiment and embossed it in white. I then coloured in the word Thanks with a white gel pen. I could have also used the embossing pen and white embossed again. My way was the lazy way! LOL! I used a blender pen to colour my images and of course a Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the stems and leaves. This card is actually quite pretty in real life. My photos just could not capture the beauty!! LOL!

Don’t forget to head over to the Inkspirations Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the DT and have a play with our challenge.

Inkspiration Challenge #66

Hey everyone!

Gosh guys….sorry I am late with this post. I thought I had something ready to be published, but I didn’t have a thing not even a draft….LOL! and I thought I was going so well this week. Well its’ colour challenge week and when I first saw them I had a small “OMG” moment! LOL! Take a look-

Without further ado here is my card for this week

I am in love with this die right now, and I plan to have lots of fun with it in the next couple of weeks to see what else I can do with it. The two half butterflies on the die were used to create the blue part of the butterfly. Folding CS in half, I cut out the big one first and then keeping it half I strategically placed it to cut it again with the smaller butterfly. The pink DSP is one of the whole butterflies on the die. Does any of that make sense??? I am starting to think it is too late at night to explain anything in great detail! LOL!

Here’s a closer look instead

I used the flourish from the Elements of Style (surprise surprise…LOL!) to decorate the base. The basic pearls to create a body and the pins are from my scrapping stash. I have had them so long now I cannot remember buying them…….let alone where from. I have had them well before I had even heard of Stampin’ Up! LOL! It’s great to see they were put to good use. Aren’t they the cutest antenna?!

Hey everyone!

I have been having a play with my Shimmer Paint and I created a very simple quick card. Take a look-see

See…..I told you it was simple! LOL! Here’s a little close up

I am also in a pink mood…..not sure why?! Well I do apologise but I cannot hang around and chat today. I have lots of things to do before the sun goes down! LOL!
