Season’s Greetings

Hello again.

I played with another challenge yet again, but this time it is from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.

Quite a simple design but you can be very creative with this. Some entries already submitted are very clever. Since I am on a Christmas themed stint of card making there are no surprises with my creation.

I am loving the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder as it gives a beautiful pattern in vellum paper. Vellum paper is something I have been using a lot lately. It’s a great addition to any card without making it ‘heavy’. On this card I have backed it with Real Red CS. As you can see I am still on the spritzer wagon. I love the randomness of it.

Oh, and this card only took me 35 minutes to pull together from start to finish…..maybe sketch challenges are the way to go.

See you agin soon,

Kirsty xx

Artful Stampers Challenge #52

Hello everyone,

It’s time for a Artful Stampers Blog Hop Challenge.

I missed the last one. I have been so busy with getting a horse stable built, time slipped by and I forgot the challenge. Oh well, I am back on track with a groovy colour challenge. Check it out

Artful Stampers Blog Hop Challenge #52

Not a bad combo, but Melon Mambo has always been a challenge for me. It is so bright, and very pink. I would have to say it would be one of the colours I would not reach for. But I figured you can take the emphasis off of it by adding only a little and adding a whole heap of one of the other colours. I chose to use more Crushed Curry

This is what I created.

I enjoyed the process of this one and loved the idea of stamping in between the embossed lines of the Stylish Stripes embossing folder. I will have to do that again. I also inked a doily up with Crumb Cake, cut it in half then scrunched (or roughly folded it) it up and put it behind the Deco Label panel. The sentiment has been clear embossed to make it pop. I love how it turned out.

Artful Stampers Challenge #50

Hello everyone,

Wow, I am on a roll. This is the third challenge in a row that I have participated in. The people who know me will know that is a huge feat in itself. LOL!

We are having a colour challenge, and the colours are gorgeous, check them out-

Artful Stampers Challenge #50

Here is my entry-

Perfect Peacock

I decided to pull out the gorgeous Peacock stamp. I only played with it once and that was with the Blendabilities. This time I water coloured it. This was lots of fun and I should do it more often. I love how the Watermelon Wonder flowers really pop. I also deliberately did messy embossing. I wanted extra texture and having splatter of white embossing was perfect. I used five different stamp sets to create this one. Can you guess them all?

Celebrate Today!

Hello everyone,

I have participated in a Sketch Challenge that is from a little crafting group I am a part of on Facebook.

Here is the sketch

Sketch Challenge

I don’t do square cards very often, so this was a welcome change. Another requirement in the challenge was it that it had to be a Baby card. Which again is something I don’t do very often.

Here is the end result.

Celebrate Today, Baby Card

My colour combination is Night of Navy, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party and Gold. I like this combo and may create another. I envision butterflies on that one.

I used the Bravo Stamp Set for the sentiment. For assorted colours I used the Pen to Marker technique, which I call the Halitosis Technique for short. LOL!

I used some paper from the Cherry on Top Paper Stack for the background. I love all those balloon strings hanging down. Very celebration style.

I will list all products used below as usual for your convenience and remember if you would like any of these products just click on the product and it will take you to my store.

Birthday Bash!

Hello everyone,

For quite a while now I have seen many people create screen cards. I thought I would create one and use it my Cards with a Difference workshop. It was a very popular addition and I may create some more at a later date.

Celebrate Today

I used a few different stamp sets to create the final result but the main set used was Celebrate Today which is in the current Occasions Catalogue.

Celebrate Today

I used the paper from the Birthday Bash SDSP, also from the same catalogue. I love this paper. Its one of those ones you would like to hoard and never use. I have quite a few of those. I really do have to change my ways and start using them, otherwise they will never see the light of day and be used in some very special projects.

I used a 12″x6″ piece of Whisper White CS. I scored it at 3″, 6″, & 9″. Super easy but very effective. What do you think?

Fine Feathers!

Hello everyone,

I just held my retirement workshop yesterday and I have one of the cards to share. I used my most favourite stamp set that is retiring from the Stampin’ Up! catalogue this year, Fine Feathers. I definitely didn’t get enough use of this set, so I might just hang onto it for hobby use.

Fine Feathers

There is a lot going on on this card, but I think well worth it. After creating a circle mask with the circle framelits, I stamped the Hardwood background, followed by gold embossing the feathers. I sponged with Crumb Cake ink and then splattered the background with Calypso Coral and Whipser White.

The sentiment piece consists of Burlap ribbon, Modern Medley DSP, paper doily, Very Vintage Designer Buttons, Vellum clear embossed stamped feathers, Linen Thread, the Oh, Hello stamp set, punched with the decorative label. All this on the base of Naturals White card stock. I told you there is a lot going on, right?!

I love how this one turned out. I must say there are few of its sisters sitting in the bin all crumpled up. We won’t go there……all I’ll say is I’m rusty.

Fine Feathers

The girls enjoyed making this one, which was good news. I love working them hard. LOL!

You Make Me Happy!

Hello everyone, Did you think I would be back so soon? I know I didn’t, LOL! I seem to be on a card making streak. Let’s hope it lasts, I do have some Project Life to catch up on, so probably not too much longer. I have always wanted to go in without a plan with a card. I had an idea (you must have an idea), but no plan. I wanted to start with a water-coloured background and go from there. I just ripped four inks off the shelf, slapped them on some water-colour paper, wet them, spread them, then create something on top of it. I found myself quite surprised with what I ended up with. I seriously thought it would be a disaster, I would laugh loudly and say something like ‘What was I thinking?’ and go back to planning  a card. I must say it is not my usual sort of creation but I like it. What do you think? You Make Me Happy DSC_0478   I am loving gold at the moment and plan on playing with it some more, so keep a look out for that. You might end up telling me to “Back up away from the Gold!” Lol Stamps used-

  • Hello, Lovely
  • Hearts a Flutter
  • Gorgeous Grunge

Ink used-

  • Baked Brown Sugar
  • Strawberry Slush

Hello Sweet Friend!

Hello everyone,

I have just recently had some time to sit down and make cards that are my very own creation. I love it when I have enough artistic inspiration to come up with something of my own. It has been a very dry spell on the card making front so far this year and this was a very welcome change. I have created other cards but they were CASE’s of other people’s beautiful work and I will put them up here on my blog in due course to share with you all.

I am so in love with the Fine Feathers stamp set and have been itching to create something “good” with it. I stress the word good because I have struggled with this set since I bought it. I have made a couple of cards with the set, but they will never see the light of day on my blog! LOL. Even though this set is not  predominate on this card it is one of the main elements.

Scrappy Goodness!

Hello everyone!

Long time, no blog post. So much has happened these past few months, some are good, some bad. Let’s do the good stuff first.

The Christmas in the Country Craft Show is coming up on October 31st through to 2nd November, and I have been creating madly for it. For those who have been before to this event, you know how fun it is and the quality of product offered. It is a fabulous fundraiser for the local school Peace Lutheran Primary, one which my children used to attend when I lived in the area. This year I will have a lot more on offer and have tried a few new things. My favourite so far is the spinning pinwheels I have created. I love them!

Some other good news is that my sister just gave birth on the 13th September to a beautiful baby girl weighing in at 8lb 7oz. There is no name as yet, my sister is undecided, so I’m not sure what she is calling her when she talks to her, lol. When I get a decent photo I will share it with you. The ones I have turned out blurry. Tamara, if you are reading this I think her name should be Elizabella!!! haha!

Now for the sad news, my beloved paint horse Cash passed away late in the evening on the 9th September. The poor boy was diagnosed with Bronchitis two months earlier, but never got better. He was given two different Antibiotics (at different times of course), but neither of them helped. The vet started to think he may have had an abscess in his lungs after he was tested for EIA (Equine Infectious Anaemia), and it returned a negative result. His last week of life was spent on Bute to help with pain and his fevers, but his big heart gave out in the end. It was not what I or the vet expected and I can assure you I was devastated when I found him at my before bed check. I decided not to go through with a Autopsy. I felt I couldn’t go through the process and clean up after. I had him buried with our other two horses Lukey and Guardian in the paddock the very next day. I was inconsolable for three days and it took another three to not cry if I spoke of him. All that has placated me is that he is pain-free and running around in horsey heaven, racing Lukey and playing tiggy with Guardian. We have one horse left, Dusty, and he is feeling a little lost without his pal, so I will have to look into getting him a paddock mate. I don’t think I will be ready to buy another horse for quite a while, none of them would compare to my buddy Cash. I will need to start afresh when it doesn’t hurt so much.

Here are a couple of pics of my boy.

IMG_0311 IMG_0313 IMG_0654 IMG_0688 IMG_0705

The last one is of Cash and Dusty hanging out in the yards. I miss you buddy!

Okay, no more sadness. I have some scrapbooking to share with you. The first one is one I taught in workshop recently and the other is what I created with the scraps from the first one with some “other” embellishments.

IMG_0841 IMG_0842

They are just super quick and easy layouts and I am very much enjoying using different sized photos in conjunction with the regular 4″x6″. You will se a lot more of that from me I think.

Here is a list of what I have used

  • I Am Me Designer Series Paper
  • Washi tape from the This and That collection
  • Label die from Apothecary Accents
  • Large Scallop Edgelit
  • Basic Grey and Pool Party spritzers I made with the re-inkers
  • Calypso Coral twine
  • Chalk Talk SS and framelits
  • White embossing powder

All of these items can be found at my online store available through Stampin’ Up! If you have any questions about my layout and how I did it please ask via email or in the comment section below.

Engagement Party Invites!

Hello everyone!

I just recently done up some Engagement Party invites for my sister’s partner’s sister…..did you get that?! LOL! So if my sister and her partner get married it will be my sisters ‘sister in-law’. That makes more sense.

I made a few designs for her to choose from. They all had a similar layout to the Mother’s Day card I made a while back.

Which one is your favourite?

The Elegant Eggplant and Confetti White  is the one that was chosen by the ‘sister in-law’, after a lot of debating. She loved the Calypso Coral one too (my favourite). But hey, they are all nice. lol!
