Kristina Werner CI#28

ci3Aren’t these colours stunning together. Kristina Werneris absolutely brilliant at choosing colours that go so well together. I suppose that’s why she is a designer! These colours reminded me of the Hibiscus shrub I have in the backyard (I would have taken a pic but it’s not in flower at the moment). So I tried to recreate it in my card. I used the wild rose stamp, but I think it resembles Hibiscus flowers alot. Take a look!

  • img_5832_1Stamp Set– Wild Rose, Occasional Greetings and Bodacious Bouquet
  • Cardstock– Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red and Whisper White
  • Ink– Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red and Sage Shadow
  • Accessories– Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red and Sage Shadow Markers
  • Tools– SAMJ, Scissors, Dimensionals and Tape

If you have visited my blog recently you would recognise this card straight away. I did the same design for a friend but in pinks. I used the CB as well, but no sponging. I love both of them . I just cannot pick a favourite. Let me know what you like the best! It will be interesting to see your responses.

Well I can’t stay on today and chat, sorry. I have a workshop to get ready for.

Thanks for dropping by!

Well now that I have calmed down some what since my grey hair episode, even after finding a few more of those little buggers!, it was time for business again! A couple of weeks ago Maggie from Maggie Lamarre Designs asked me to be a guest designer on the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog. How exciting! This is my first time. So of course I pondered for days what I was going to make. Would it be simple or little more in depth with more techniques involved. I chose simple. And seeing that Christmas is just around the corner that was the theme I went with too.

img_5799_1I had my close friend Andrea there with me. While our kids were playing I made my little masterpiece (cough cough). Andrea thought she might take photos of me at work. Don’t I look stunning?!! (some more random coughing). Maybe I should have looked at the camera. But then again I wasn’t dressed to impress.

Anyway back to business! I did a tutorial for this card on the Cuttlebug Challenge blog if you would like to know step by step directions. It was pretty straight forward and nothing too fancy or hard to do. But the card turned out quite nice.

img_5823_1_1I do love to emboss with my CB and I love the way it just lifts a card and makes it ‘ping’. After passing the CS through the CB (did you get that, sounds funny hey?) I then whipped out my Whisper White craft pad and rubbed it over the design so the design was highlighted. Very easy! I also Dimensionaled cut out parts of the stamped image in Old Olive onto the main image of Real Red. Tied some ribbon on and Voila! You have a quick ‘n’ easy card pleasing to the eye!

  • Stamp Set– Season of Joy
  • Cardstock– Old Olive, Real Red and Whisper White
  • Ink– Whisper White, Real Red and Old Olive
  • Accessories– Real Red and Old Olive Ribbon, Cuttlebug, D’vine Swirls Embossing Folder.
  • Tools– Scissors, Circle Punch, Tape and Dimensionals

I will probably make some more cards this way for Christmas. Quick and easy is my middle name…lol. But it is beautiful! I don’t think any one I know would mind receiving this card.

Thanks for dropping by!

Quick, break that mirror!

img_5786_1As most of you know, it was my birthday yesterday. And what a day I had! My beautiful adorable children came in to the room single file and handed me a bunch of flowers each, even our little darling Darcy. I received a box of Roses chocolates too! (my favourite). Then my hubby brought into the room ‘the gift’. You know how you get all these little gifts and then there is the main one. Well that’s the one….. OHH and it was beautiful a huge mirror for us to put in the bathroom  (the last mirror dropped from its perch and smashed to bits…not to mention we are going to have 7 years of bad luck). We have been in this house for about six months without a mirror!  Can you imagine the horror of my hair…….or worse still the makeup! You can be assured I was doing some @%!*%. LOL

Well, finally we have a beautiful mirror and while I was checking it out and myself mind you, hehehe. Can you imagine my horror when I found 5…yep that’s right 5…. just to be sure you read right, FIVE GREY HAIRS!!! There was some bloody @#*!% going on then I can assure you! How dare my Hubby purchase a gift on my birthday that shows me that I’m ageing at this horrific rate! Not too mention the fact that he probably has been looking at these grey hairs now for the past six months and not said a thing………that ba%@&!. I plucked those babies out quick smart! only to be informed by my “ever smart” hubby they grow back tenfold. Well I then informed my hubby I am going to get my hair done by a “you beaut” hairdresser and pretty myself up…….and double my years of bad luck and smash myself a new mirror! LOL.

I must have been a sight to my poor kids. I heard one of them ask Daddy “What’s wrong with Mummy, Is her hair falling out?” To which Daddy replied “No she’s just worried that she is getting too old and not very beautiful anymore” My gorgeous, talented and wonderful 4 year old then replied “She’s silly, she is always my beautiful Mummy.”   Awweeee, how sweet is my little girl! Not too sure about the “she’s silly” part but you can be assured if my kids still think I’m beautiful then I can’t complain! So as quickly as my horror submerged, it was just as quick to subside. Just in time mind you…..the mirror was hanging at a perilous level outside my bathroom window ready to be dropped! But I’m still seeing that hairdresser! LMAO!

So on to the little beauty I made on my birthday. I was in a embossing mood. So I got out some jumbo wheels and rolled them in versa mark and not forgetting my wheel guide (I love precision), and rolled and rolled and rolled. I did a few different colours and designs. I then clear embossed all of them. Then my decision was which one was I going to make a card with. I went with the ABC and then pulled out the matching SS (nursery Necessities), and voila!

  • Stamp Set– Nursery Necessities and Nursery Letters wheel
  • Cardstock– Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise
  • Ink– Versa Mark and Chocolate Chip
  • Accessories– Satin Chocolate Chip Ribbon, Clear Emboss Powder
  • Tools– Heat Tool, Wheel Guide, Word Window Punch, Dimensionals and Scissors

I again used a chipboard Scallop to trace the Scallop and cut it out. Very time consuming but I love scallops

Thanks for dropping by and listen to me go on about grey hairs!

It’s my Birthday and I’ll make cards if I want to!

img_5783_1Well now I’m in ‘full on’ mode for birthdays (see last post). I just got this stamp set this month from the SU promotion. I have always eyed it off, so when 20% off was offered on selected sets including this one I jumped on it. I think I have a thing for bold stamp sets! (don’t tell anyone about my addiction please…..very embarrassing).

I will say though I had inspiration from the Stampin’ Up site for this one. I changed it a little but same layout applies. Maybe I should have submitted this one as my Kwerner CI for this week. It definitely got me in the red mood….lol

  • Stamp Set– Big Bold Birthday
  • Cardstock– Rose Red, Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White and Rose Red DSP
  • Ink– Rose Red, Close to Cocoa and Wild Wasabi
  • Accessories– Bashful Blue Striped Ribbon and Brads
  • Tools– Dimensionals, Two way glue pen, Glue Dots, Brad hole punch, Scissors and Tape.

I traced around a chipboard scallop border to get my scallop edge (can not wait for the scallop edge punch). I also ran my fingernail down the edge of the Rose Red CS to distress it. I just love that effect. The brads are supposed to represent sprinkles on top of the cupcake. I think it works! The bashful Blue CS has second generation stamping with the dots stamp. Just for some added texture. I really like how this card has worked out. Now I will just give it to myself for tomorrow……..seriously I will!

img_5782_1Well here it is another wonderful Kristina Werner CI. I love them sooooo much. But I cannot dribble on too much as I have a deadline to catch.

I just did a real quick one today. I would have love to done more to it, like sponging or even more layers with some flowers and leaves but sometimes less is more!!! Well I hope so in this case. lol

I used my Stampin’ Start Wild Rose set. I really do love it. Maybe it’s because I love to receive flowers……hoping to get some tomorrow actually as it’s my birthday!!! YAY another year older! I’m now 21 (plus maybe another ………10). LOL

  • Stamp Set– Wild Rose and Occasional Greetings
  • Cardstock– Whisper White and Real Red
  • Ink– Real Red
  • Accessories– Real Red Striped ribbon
  • Tools– Oval Punch, Dimensionals, Scissors and Tape

Thanks for dropping by!

Wild Rose Stampin’….

This is one of the other sets I received for my Stampin’ Start achievement (woohoo). Wild Rose is just gorgeous, it makes such stunning feminine cards. I would borrow my uplines set all the time. To be cheeky I made this card for my very close and dear friend Andrea! The cheeky bit is I made this right in front of her without her knowing that the card was for her……. hehehehe

img_5781_1She watched me make it in under half an hour and was amazed at how beautiful it was. So I know for sure this card will be cherished for all its life.

  • Stamp Set– Wild Rose, Bodacious Bouquet and Occasional Greetings
  • Cardstock– Very Vanilla, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Mellow Moss
  • Ink– Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Mellow Moss
  • Accessories– SAMJ and Cuttlebug
  • Tools– Dimensionals, Glue pen and tape

I just hope though Andrea doesn’t check my blog out this arvy……I will be giving her card to her tomorrow at her Stampin’ Up show as a thank you card. Oh well! If you are reading this Andrea…..SURPRISE!!!

Thanks for dropping by!

Not long now!

img_5776_1Yep that’s right…..not long now and we will be in full Christmas mode! I should have started by now, making cards and buying gifts. I take forever choosing gifts. We have a huge family too, not just here in Queensland but also in Victoria. This year I also have to organise our trip to Fraser Island (can’t wait…Will be bliss over there). We are going over for a week near Christmas. We were meant to go last year but the cyclone kept us out. So I have a busy time ahead of me, but I think I’m up for the challenge.

I was browsing on Kristina Werner’sblog (again) just yesterday. Kristina does these MACM (make a card Monday) cards, and I really like the latest one, so much so that I CASED it. I didn’t have the exact products but I adapted and used what was at my disposal.

Not quite sure if I’m totally happy with my end product, but I will probably do some more….you know experiment a little, different colours, different paper and different stamps.

  • Stamp Set– Sandy Lion acrylic Christmas, Party Punch
  • Cardstock– Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Kraft and Old Olive DSP
  • Ink– Chocolate Chip and Versa Mark
  • Accessories– Purely Pomegranate double stitched Ribbon and white embossing powder.
  • Tools– Heat Tool, Circle Punch, Tape and Scissors.

Thanks for dropping by!

My little family!

This week I received my first Stampin’ Start order! (how exciting!!) I cannot wait now to achieve the others. It would be just grand wouldn’t it! Well one of the free sets I chose was All in the Family. This set is just adorable and so much fun to play with! I had a quick play and made a card featuring my family, everyone except the dog and cat! I just couldn’t fit them in on this card. but I will probably do a photo frame and feature them in there.

img_5774_11I have a big family don’t I? Well it’s decided. We won’t be having anymore. My reason is that I just won’t be able to fit them on a card!!!….lol. But then again I could probably put one of the kids on someones shoulders. I might have a play and see what I come up with! It could work you know. The colours on this one is the same as the latest  kwerner CI. And I just sponged the sky on and cut the grass. This is the second one I had to do as my youngest, gorgeous, ever helpful son threw my first attempt in the toilet! He must love my work! No seriously he must, as only important and special things get thrown in the toilet  …lol. Well I hope you enjoyed my little creation.

Thanks for dropping by!

ci5Another set of wonderful, bright and fun colours! Aren’t they just  cute?!

img_5773_1I had fun with these colours again and definitely thought out the box for this one and went in a rounded fashion…lol.

img_5772_1It’s amazing what you can come up with using different sized circle punches.

  • Stamp Set– Occasional Greetings
  • Cardstock– Rose Red, Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue and So Saffron.
  • Ink– So Saffron and Rose Red
  • Accessories– Bashful Blue, Rose Red and So Saffron Brads, Mat Pack, Different sized Circle Punches and Cuttlebug
  • Tools– Glue Dots, Piercer and Snail Adhesive.

When I passed the Whisper White through the Cuttlebug I sponged So Saffron over the top to give the little circles more lift off the card. For the sentiment I sponged as well but I didn’t rub the ink in, I just dabbed it. It gives a lovely spritzed look.

For all who know me, they will be proud of me when I tell you all that I manged to do two double LO’s last night at the scrap shop. As soon as I have purchased my new lens (double LO’s are just too big for my telephoto lens), I will take photos and put them on my blog.

Thanks for dropping by!

Busy, busy, busy…

img_5756_1I have to start with that I’m very sorry to my regulars about my absence…..I have been getting ready for the shows I have in the coming weeks, while I have been ill mind you. Last Wednesday I came down with headaches and back pain. Something I don’t get very often. I ended up having that headache for the next 24 hours. All the day next the muscles around my eyes ached. And to top it off I had a boil (eewww..Iknow) come out on my jawline on the side of my face. Disgusting! Oh and Painful. But I’m sure by now that you are all now thinking I should have kept all that to myself. But the people that know me best are already aware that I love to share my troubles! LOL.

But on to business. I had so much fun with the last emboss resist card I did another one. My brilliant upline, Theresa, gave me the idea for this one! I really like how this one turned out. I used colours that I don’t usually use, namely Groovy Guava.

  • Stamp Set– Brocade Basics and En Francais
  • Cardstock Very Vanilla and Blush Blossom
  • Ink– Groovy Guava, Apricot Appeal, Blush Blossom and Versa Mark
  • Accessories– White Embossing Powder, Very Vanilla Ribbon
  • Tools–  Oval Punch, Heat Tool, Sponges and SAMJ

Thanks for dropping by!
