Inkspirations Challenge #59

Hey everyone!

For this weeks Inkspiration Challenge I was tossing up between a card or a scrap page because of the square nature of the sketch. But I had great visions for the Easter Blossoms set and had to make it!

Here is this weeks sketch~

See, that would make a nice scrapbook LO don’t you think? Oh well next time……. I promise when there is another square-shaped sketch I will do a LO…’s hoping I can do it now! LOL!

I discovered another cool trick with tissue paper too. Other people have already probably done it, but I haven’t seen it so I thought I would share it with you all. Do you notice my BG that looks like patterned paper? Well it’s not… is a base of Rich Razzleberry and I scrunched up a piece of tissue paper, spread it back out and then used the Anywhere Glue Stick to stick it down on the RR. Screwing it up gives it a bit of texture. I then stamped the blossom branch from the Easter Blossoms SS all over the tissue paper in Early Espresso. It all started because I didn’t like how strong the RR was coming across. I know you cannot see it as much but I love the effect, perfect for vintage cards. It is a bit like the Faux Silk Technique but in reverse…LOL! What about you….do you think you will have a go at it? If you do let me know so I can see what you come up with!

Also you may have noticed the little girls basket. I decided against the eggs and stamped the blossom again and you may notice up the top the rather large bunch of blossoms I coloured them and cut them out and put them on the basket. I am rather pleased with how this turned out….might just be my new favourite.

Make sure you have a play and submit your entry over at the Inkspirations Challenge Blog

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the DT too

Easter Blossom Silk!

Hey everyone!

I have workshops this week and I decided I would teach my class the Faux Silk technique and combine it with an Easter theme. I’m not an Easter card maker and sender, but I do love creating gift boxes for the chocolatey goodness. This time though I made a matching card for the box.

The box design is very similar to the one on page 8 of the Summer mini catalogue but with a few of my own touches added to it.

The card and some closeups of the box’s finer details

Oohh I am liking these closeups!! I might have to do that more often! LOL! The brown paper is the packing from SU deliveries. I just passed it through a shredder. The eggs are Cadbury Mini Eggs and resemble Smarties, M&M’s and the like, they are crisp shell with chocolate inside…..MMMmmmmm…YUMMY!!! I made this project with these eggs in mind. I bought them last year and just loved them. I made this project before I bought them and was hoping that they would make a comeback this year so I could use them specifically for this project. I used colours Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride and Perfect Plum.

Well I best get packing for my workshop!

Faux Silk!

I am having lots of fun with the Elements of Style set lately and the other day I thought I would revive an old fave technique. It is so super easy and also a crowd pleaser….how can you go wrong?! LOL! I will be holding workshops in the coming weeks using this technique on a few different projects. This card I am about to show you was quickly whipped up for a workshop party as show and share and they loved it.

For those who don’t know the faux silk technique this is what you do- Stamp your image as normal on your white CS, crumple up a piece of tissue paper into a very small ball (make sure this piece is bigger than your white CS base), unfold it and pull it back to the original shape, cover your stamped image with the Anywhere Glue Stick (this stuff is perfect for the job), then stick the tissue paper over the top of your stamped image and trim off excess tissue paper. There DONE!!!! See super easy.
