Jingle Bells

Hello again. I am back with another challenge entry. I must say these challenges are helping me get inky even if it takes two days to complete. I did have this one in mind for two challenges, but I have missed the deadline for the Color Throwdown challenge #617 of Kraft, red, dark green and light green. I do, however, have some time left to enter the TGIF Challenge #288. This challenge is all about circles.

I had a quick look through my stamps and found Cherish the Season with all the bells in the set and thought it would work well. I ended up using the matching die set Sounds of the Season to create my bells and used the sentiment out of the stamp set. I have also decided I will probably buy a whole heap more spritzers and create a colour mist for every current SU colour I have. I am definitely addicted. I used Real Red, Frost White and White.

Even though it took two days to put together I liked the end result. Now I am off to find another challenge (hopefully one that doesn’t take me so long to complete…lol).

See you again soon,

Kirsty xx

I’m back…..

Yes that’s right. I’m back to paper crafting. I have rejoined Stampin’ Up! and I am reconnecting with a lot of old friends and we are having a laugh at how out of the loop I am! LOL. You have to understand its been 5 years since I have even posted on this blog. You could imagine my surprise that I remembered my password, but my dismay at finding my computer no longer supports Photoshop Elements 13. Boohoo. I think I am up for a new computer anyway. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

So, if you follow me on my Facebook page then you already know I am back and have seen some sneak peaks at my attempts of making a card or two. A few definitely were fun and easy to make, but many were taking way to long with my “should I do this or that?” or “does this work?”. You can imagine my hubby and kids thinking why the heck did we tell her its a good idea to do this again. LOL

Anyway…..I decided I would kick start my blogging again off with a challenge. I went looking at some of the old challenge blogs I used to participate in and found all of them finished up. So I went on the hunt for more. I found the Spot Creative Challenge Blog. The current challenge is a sketch.

I have to say I did struggle with this one. We won’t be showing my first attempt. I tried a CAS card but I failed miserably. My second attempt is more my style.

Its not quite traditional Christmas colours being Petal Pink, Crumb Cake, and Calypso Coral. I like to be different. I also enjoyed creating some spray mists with white craft ink and the Frost White paint. The shimmer is gorgeous. I just didn’t quite capture it in the photo. Something else I have to relearn…..taking decent photos. If you have any questions about my creation please send a message and I will answer as soon as I can.

So here’s hoping I can keep this going and belt out some regular blog posts.

See you again soon,

Kirsty xx

Inkspiration Challenge #72

Hey everyone!

I am sure the weeks are getting faster. Didn’t I just do #71 yesterday?! LOL! I must say I love it though. It ensures I keep playing with my goodies and also using the grey matter to create something different each time….well at least I try to! Hehe!

This weeks colours were a little difficult for me. I tried several options but having Not Quite Navy as a predominate colour on this card would just not work. So in the end I used it to stamp the sentiment. It seems a lot like cheating doesn’t it? LOL!

Again this week I played with the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint {so lurve this stuff}. This time though I just stamped the image in Peach Parfait and then using a paint brush, painted the shimmer over the top. You cannot see it too well but I ran a sponge dauber, dipped in shimmer paint, around the edges of the card. You can just see it along the top………well I can anyway! LOL!

Heres a closer look at that flower

I pulled out an old favourite, Petal Pizzazz. I bet you noticed! I seem to go through some favourites don’t I? Currently it is Elements of Style, but that could soon turn into Nature Walk…….but then again French Foliage is a new one I have just acquired! Hmmmmmmm! I will let you know! LOL!

Don’t forget to go to the Inkspirations Challenge Blog to link your creation and of course check out the rest of the DT.

A Princesses Castle!

Hey everyone!

I know, I know……SHOCK, HORROR! I am doing a blog post that isn’t  an Inkspirations Challenge! LOL! It had to happen sometime right?

This particular post is about my upcoming workshops here in Gatton and local city Toowoomba. After coming home from convention I was chock block full of ideas and inspiration. The inspiration for these creations originated from a swap I received from Pat Carr. Pat is one super creative punch art designer and I had a blast recreating it.

Have a look a the card class-

a closer look-

I love how cute this is and I have a recipient already in mind. She is my little princess Akayla. When she saw this she ooohhed and aahhhed for ages. Sometimes hinting at having one of her own, God Bless her! Her favourite colours too! LOL!

Okay, I also do a scrapbook workshop and I usually keep it the same theme as the card class. This makes life much easier for me, as I tend to take to looooooooong thinking about scrap pages.

I must say my daughter Jemma was horrified when she saw this photo. LOL! I think she forgot on the day of her 6th birthday party she had her face painted like a cat and then ran around for the rest of the day. She ended up looking like a witch NOT a princess!! LOL! I do love how this page turned out, but the photos doesn’t do these projects justice.

I have taken some closer ones though-

Gotta love that Champagne Mist shimmer paint and the clear embossing. I also sponged a lot of edges to add some definition to the page. I am sure the girls will love creating these projects. Thank you Pat for the inspiration!

Well that’s all I have to show you today!

Thanks for dropping by!

Inkspiration Challenge #71

Hey everyone!

This weeks Inkspiration was a little tough for me…..I am not even sure why. It is a gorgeous sketch and easy to work with….maybe it was all the options that were leaping at me as soon as I saw it. It is hard to narrow it down sometimes. I also picked up a couple of tricks at convention I wanted to try. Teneale’s ruffled ribbon and Delys’s Shimmer paint and chalk mix. The perfect set to combine these techniques was the Nature Walk set.

Here’s a closer look at that fabulous bird

To colour him in I mixed Not Quite Navy Chalk with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. After the initial all-over coat. I dabbed the bird with the brush to give more texture. I then used an Early Espresso and Crumb Cake marker to colour his beak and feet in. So simple but so effective. Thanks girls for all the inspiration at convention. I am full of ideas, I just now have to adapt them to my projects. All the DSP is from the coordinating pack Botanical Gazette. Love this paper and must buy more.

Well I hope you have a chance to play and head over to the Inkspiration Challenge Blog to submit your creation and check out the rest of the DT.

Shimmery Medallion!!

Hey everyone!

I have been having a play with my Shimmer Paint and I created a very simple quick card. Take a look-see

See…..I told you it was simple! LOL! Here’s a little close up

I am also in a pink mood…..not sure why?! Well I do apologise but I cannot hang around and chat today. I have lots of things to do before the sun goes down! LOL!

Thanks for dropping by!

Starry, Starry Christmas!

Hey everyone!

I had a fabulous evening yesterday creating some super cute Christmas Gift Boxes. Everyone (meaning the Inkspirations Crew), has been inspiring me to use other than traditional Christmas colours of late…..have you seen their work?? Simply stunning. So I thought that’s what I would do last night. I thought what would be one colour that is not usually associated with Christmas……..Purple was the answer. Rich Razzleberry in fact. I know it goes well with Pear Pizzazz so I used the colour coach, checked out both colours and on the Pear Pizzazz chip I found the combo Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise……perfect!

The template is a Lauren Meader creation (LOVE her templates) So I bet you’re dying to see it!!……well are you?…….okay, okay, here it is

and again

oh okay….and again

Of course I had to use the shimmer paint…..no Christmas bauble should be without it!! LOL! This time after I stamped the image I used a paint brush and painted the shimmer on. Super easy!! You should all have a go if you haven’t yet!

Well I have workshops to organise so I best be off!

Thanks for dropping by!

Clean And Simple Stamping #116

Hey everyone!

I have not been feeling very creative lately since the craft show and this week is a week where I need to get very busy with my workshops. I thought if I started something easy with Clean And Simple. It’s a very cute sketch too. I have a couple of ideas forming so I might enter another one. I just have to make it…..easier said than done…LOL!

What do you think? I daubed some Shimmer Paint on the image before stamping as well just to jazz it up a bit! Have a closer look-

I love it and will be doing some more creating today for this weeks workshops and we will be playing with Shimmer Paint. You girls are gonna love it!
