To workshop or not??

I have done some cards up to teach at workshops and I’m not sure if they are suitable. So now I have decided to ask my blogging buddies what they would do? So come on help me out ladies and gents. I will post a card a day for three days and I would like to know what you think. Just leave a comment under my post. Todays card is for a group of ladies who want to learn more on embossing. They are very capable stampers, so I have decided to do the Emboss Resist technique.

I inked the seahorse stamp out of the Ocean Commotion SS in Versa Mark and then the Chocolate Chip before stamping the image onto Whisper White CS. I then sponged So Saffron over the entire piece of CS, then Certainly Celery and then a light sponging of Chocolate Chip on the edges. When it was all the right tones I stamped second generation Chocolate Chip seaweed swirls around the edge. The bigger Certainly Celery CS is just stamped randomly with the swirl stamp. Would you like to learn something like this? Would you change it? It will be great to get some feedback because not everyone likes the same thing.

I cannot wait to read your replies…..

Thanks for dropping by!

  1. Hi Kirsty, I would love to learn this technique but I would change the colours of the sea horse background to blue. I think he would stand out a lot more with a blue background IYKWIM. I love the green mat but would have gone with a deeper green rather than the chocolate.
Another suggestion – instead of a second mat could you mask the area where the seahorse is and then stamp and emboss the seahorse directly onto the masked area of the green mat.
    Just a thought!

  2. Hi Kirsty,

I love the card and would like to learn the technique. Just to be a pain in the #@*^, I probably would have used a different background colour for the mat around the seahorse and possibly a green ribbon? Cheers

  3. O.K., I’ll be odd man out again. : ) I like the colors on this card just as they appear on my screen. The suggestion of the blue behind the seahorse might be worth a try, too. Really and truly, I am not much of a seahorse, fish, ocean person, so I would probably replace that image and go with maybe some flowers or something Easter themed. Goodnight again, Linda S. in NE

  4. Kirsty I love this card! I have not been a fan of the Ocean Commotion set but now that I have seen this card I want to buy the set. I wouldn’t change anything about it, love the colours!!
    Thanks :))

  5. Hello from Quebec, Kirsty!

The technique is a great idea. But, as many, I think much blue would done a better effect… If you want to stay in a green mood, I suggest Sage Shadow or even a touch of Handsome Hunter because that green has a shade of blue.

I don’t have this set of stamp but I like it! Congrats!
