How do you do a sunset?

Hey everyone! I am very curious……I have tried doing a sunset image using sponges and 4 different inks and I’m not extremely happy with it……so what colours do you use to make a gorgeous sunset? Also in what order do you use these colours? Let me know all your secrets before I put another poor example up here in blog land…..LOL!

As you can see I have performed the emboss resist technique. I used the brown embossing powder that I picked up the other day among some other fabulous colours. As you know I sponged the background. I used the colours So Saffron, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie and Cameo Coral. Yes I know….. Cameo Coral! (shudder) Even the name starts my skin tingling…LOL! Maybe that’s where I went wrong. Maybe I should have used a lighter pink…hhmmmmmm! I might have another go.
After the sponging I then used my Chocolate Chip Marker to produce the shadow for the tree and reindeer. Think I stuffed up his back legs, but hey I am still on my learner plates…LOL!

A cracked affair!

Hey everyone! I finally had a go at cracking an embossed image……I know, I know, what rock have I been under. I saw it quite a while a go when a friend showed me, it was just one of those, ‘I’ll have to have a go at that one day’ things. And so…….today…well yesterday was the day!
Here is the whole card-

I embossed the daisies and the positive image in organic outlines in a green embossing powder out of my own stash. I then did about four to five layers of clear embossing over the daisies and then placed it in the freezer. After a few minutes, pull it out and bend the image til it cracks. I placed a sheet of clear acetate over the black CS and using my white Staz-on, stamped the negative image out of Organic Outlines.
I don’t know about you but I’m just loving the green and black. Also I’m loving this card. What do you think?

Live, Laugh, Love!
Hey everyone! It feels so good to be back online. It was like I was missing an arm. Half my family and friends are online and I’m in contact with them on a daily basis, and not to have access to that was…….hard! That is saying it simply.
Guess what?! I have a card to show you all. But I have to say it is not my own design. I got this cute design out of the IB&C on page 109. I added a couple more flowers just to add my own touch. What do you think?

The rubons are out of the Planter Box set. I love this card, it is so fresh and brightens your day…..well that’s what I hope it will do for my sister! Tamara moved to Rockhampton end of last year and we (all the family, especially the kids) miss her terribly. We are planning a visit in November. So hang on dearest sis…we are coming and we love you, but in the meantime I hope this cheers you up.
Well I suppose if I want to upload anything to my blog tomorrow I better go create.

Merry & Bright!
Hey everyone! Guess what?? I got a new stamp set…….like I need it right?!….lol! I just couldn’t resist though. I have wanted it since it came out in the new catty! It is Holiday Lineup. Those characters are so cute and funny. Here’s what I came up with-

Just a quick simple card…..well actually it wasn’t so quick….LOL! The water colouring took the longest but it was fun to do! I think I’m getting the hang of it now. I’m still no Gainsborough though….LOL!!
Anyhoo! I wouldn’t mind having a nap this arvy I had quite a late night last night and I’m starting to feel the strain.

Pretty Petals!

Hey everyone! Yesterday I had a look through my stamp set collection and Whoa be tide I have come across some sets I haven’t even played with yet! I’m not too sure how that happened……maybe it’s because I have tooo many sets…LOL! I decided that this was my challenge for this week. To play with all uninked sets! At the top of the list is Playful Petals.
I was getting a little frustrated trying to come up with a colour combo for this water colouring “masterpiece”. So while I was looking through an order that was just delivered I came across the ribbon bundle set that you get for free when you spend $100 (which mind you finishes at the end of this month, so be quick and get your orders in ladies). I really like the Certainly Celery Twill roll, so I went from there. I really love how purple looks with green so there was my colour combo.

So what do you think? Oh and there is a boo boo on there somewhere….can you pick it? Oh dear it does stick out!! I used four colours, they were, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Blush Blossom and Certainly Celery. I water coloured using my favourite technique- Aqua Painter and ink. I started with the Blender Pens and Wonder Crayons but it would only go so dark. I really wanted some dark colouring in there so I made the switch. I was going to put some glitter on the dots in the big blossom but decided against it. I will up the anti next time.

Suprise mail!
Hey everyone! I just have to tell you about the fabulous gift I received in the mail this past week. It was a stamp set from the gorgeous Makeesha! Such a sweet and generous friend! I am so lucky to know and have her in my life. Thanks Keesh!
Well the stamp set I received, Build a Roo, would you believe is a set I do not own. Very clever lady to…..LOL! I also received a card made up with the same set. Absolutely beautiful it is! So a s soon as I had my challenges ready and uploaded I had a play. Here is the result-

Isn’t that stamp just sooo cute?? I just water coloured my own little background with the sky and ground and a little bit of grass! I also used a little of the Windsor Knot DSP and the Circle Circus SS. I’m in a bit of a creative mood so I better not let it pass and I shall go whip up something extraordinary for you all….LOL!

Inkspiration Inspiration Challenge #9
Hey everyone! Again I apologise for the lack of blogging! There just seems to be so much going on in my life right now. I am still creating cards, I just have to take photos and blog them. Easier said than done right now though…LOL! But of course I could not, not post this challenge. And boy oh boy!!! This certainly was a challenge. I was starting to think I wasn’t going to have anything to show. I did quite a few cards and I just wasn’t happy with them. Finally I did something I could use….lol!
Here is the challenge-

Here is sneak peak…..I’m such a tease….

And here is the rest of it…

My initial thought when I saw the pic was brayering. Not to sure why?! But with a couple of ideas thrown around and a great friends input I went with water spritzing and using the colours from the painting in the BG. While the stamped image was still wet I gave the card a flick and it spread the ink even further around. It resembles something like spider veins! I just love how this technique turns out. When the card was dry I used my Aqua painter to run Regal Rose around and outlined some petals and stems. Looks a bit like crayon with the texture showing through. Just love it!! What do you think?
I was playing with stamp set A Rose is a Rose first but the end result looked to blurry and a little too ‘blah’! I will work with it though.
- Stamp set- Inspired by Nature, Baroque Motifs and Flight of the Butterfly
- Cardstock- Regal Rose textured, Apricot Appeal, Pretty in Pink, Watercolour paper and Very Vanilla.
- Ink- Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal and Regal Rose
- Accessories- Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Pink Pirouette Button, Linen Thread, Water Spritzer, Aqua Painter, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8 & 1 1/4 Circle Punches and Eyelet Edge Punch.
But also don’t forget to check out all the other DT’s fabulous work

Another workshop special!
Well, Ive just got back from another awesome workshop. I am so enjoying this Stampin’ Up! gig! Meeting new people and making new friends and to top it off make projects with them! It just never ends! LOL. I thought I would share with you what was made at this party.

It is the same style box I did in the Mother’s Day gift set. What will surprise you though is the colours I have used. If you have been a long time reader of my blog you would know that I am not a huge fan of Cameo Coral. Actually it makes me cringe when I see it. But when I printed out the ‘Mix it up’ Colour chart for the new in colours. The combo of Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Apricot Appeal and Cameo Coral really caught my eye, so I circled it to remind myself later to give it a go.

This had the Hostess gift inside, comprising of a stamp and a ink spot. I think I’m falling in love with this colour combo! What do you think of it??

This is the card that everyone drew their inspiration from. Most did copy this one exactly, but a couple of people did their own thing and used different sentiment stamps and such. I love that, it just gives me heaps more ideas, and I love seeing other people use their imagination to create something a little different. They think ‘Hey I can do this, it’s not that hard after all!’
I again used the Crystal Effects on the rose, but only the one! Just to make that one stand out a little more. I’m loving the Crystal Effects. I nearly need a new bottle. LOL!
I hope I have inspired you again!

Hi, I am a Independent Stampin' Up! ® Demonstrator in Gatton, Queensland. I'm married with four beautiful children, Sean, Jemma, Akayla and Darcy. I absolutely love scrapping and cardmaking and try to do both as often as possible. With four kids that's probably why I'm 6 years behind in my photos....lol.
