Colour Throwdown #50

Hey everyone! Can you believe the Colour Throwdown team are already up to number 50??! Wowsers time goes so fast…I remember when they first started and I even participated in a few. Well I was on the hunt for a challenge and I thought why not go for a colour challenge. Here is the current Colour Throwdown-

CTD50

There is no teasing sneak peak today…LOL!

IMG_7126_1

It is very plain and simple but with such strong colours I wanted it that way. And once again Baroque Motifs is my lifesaving back up/coordinating set. To vary the colours a little I used the second generation technique.

Can you believe I still feel like creating? So I better get to it!

Thanks for dropping by!

Colour Throwdown #11

I missed last weeks Colour Throwdown just like I missed the Kwerner Color Inspiration. Well I missed the deadline for it anyway!! Things are different this week I’m on top of things again ( I wonder for how long!), so there is no disappointment and this week I have done something a little different. Don’t tell anyone but I didn’t use a SU Stamp…LOL. I pulled out the acrylic stamps I have hidden away for my scrapping. They haven’t had a work out for quite a while. I also used Tempting Turquoise instead of Baja Breeze.

There is also another reason I did this card, We have some friends expecting, next month, their own little bundle of joy apparently a son, if that changes I will change the colours and use a giraffe instead.

  • Stamp Set- Autumn Leaves Mindy’s Zoo and Nursery Necessities.
  • Cardstock- Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and Very Vanilla
  • Ink- Chocolate Chip
  • Accessories- Tempting Turquoise Ribbon and brads
  • Tools- Oval Punch, Wonder Crayons Earth Elements, Aqua Pen, Craft Knife, Scissors, Dimensionals and Tape.

I had to hand cut the scallop edge as it’s not in OZ yet with Stampin up. There is a Fiskars one you can purchase, but I think I will wait. I hear on the grapevine it will be available in December for us in the Mini Catalogue.

(Yippee) I must admit I’m still trying to get the hang of the water pen. I have a few streaks here and there maybe a blotch or two….LOL. But I don’t mind it. Gives it character!

I dimensionaled the lion, the frame around him and the sentiment on the ribbon. The brads unfortunately were an afterthought as you can probably tell…Oh well! But I like it and so will the people receiving it! Not too mention I might have to make different one anyway! (you know, the girl colours… lol)

Thanks for dropping by and will see you again soon! (no doubt you will I’m scrapping tonight for the first time in four weeks……OH MY GOD!)

Colour Throwdown #8

The colour combos coming out are just wonderful and when I first saw these colours I thought the pink one was Regal Rose. DUH! I had never worked with Cameo Coral before and was a little skeptical about me actually completing something, but when I put the other colours with it an image was coming to mind. Great pick Colour Throwdown Team…..very impressed, I will no longer sit there and look at Cameo Coral likes its week old luncheon meat…LOL. Here it is-

The Certainly celery Ribbon is looking a little off to me though. I should have used the thinner one in hindsight but still very happy with overall LO. I used-

  • Stamp Set- Baroque Motifs
  • Cardstock- Old Olive, So Saffron and Cameo Coral.
  • Ink- Old Olive and Cameo Coral
  • Accessories- Certainly Celery Ribbon and Kaiser Rhinestones
  • Tools- Stamp-a-ma-jig, Dimensionals and tape.

The more I use the Baroque Motifs Stamp Set the more I like it. Will definitely get my own set.

Thanks for dropping by!

Oh What a Night!!!

And what a night it was. I, again, have been at Theresas place and we both had a card making storm. I had a great time as I always do! I went there with challenges in hand, and these challenges were colour throwdowns numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4. I managed to do challenges 1, 2 and 3. Theresa did 1 and 4, amongst a whole heap of others.

This is my result for challenge 2. I was pretty happy with it. I used-

  • Stamp Sets- One of a Kind and Sanded BG
  • Cardstock- Cool Caribbean, Pumpkin Pie and Barely Banana
  • Inks- Staz-on, Pumpkin Pie and Cool Caribbean
  • Accessories- Pumpkin Pie Ribbon, Barely Banana marker
  • Tools- Dimensionals, Aqua Pen, sponge, Snail Trail and Stamp-a-ma-jig.

I stamped the Barely Banana with the sanded BG stamp in Pumpkin pie to break up the starkness. I then stamped the flower image in Staz-on black and then proceeded to watercolour the flower in Pumpkin Pie and Cool Caribbean Inks with the Aqua Pen. I went a little too dark on the first petal but I think I managed to blend it in okay. I then Stamped the inner flower, and because I didn’t have Barely Banana Ink (not for too much longer though), I used a marker, I coloured it in then breathed on it to re moisten the image then stamped it on to Barely Banana Cardstock. I then rolled the edges in Cool Caribbean Ink and dimensionaled it on to larger flower image. I also sponged the outer edge.

Well on to the next card!

This is colour throwdown #1. I think these are a beautiful combo and instead of doing what I would usually do with these colours ( meaning flowers), I thought I would give a Christmas card a go…..I know I know”What is she thinking? Those aren’t christmas colours” But I wanted to challenge myself, and I think it didn’t turn out too bad!

See isn’t ti nice! Therese liked it too and did her own version in these colours as well. I used-

  • Stamp Sets- Season of Joy and Sanded BG
  • Cardstock- Sage Shadow, Regal Rose and Pretty in Pink
  • Inks- Sage Shadow, Pretty In Pink and Regal Rose
  • Accessories- Regal Rose ribbon
  • Tools- Stamp-a-ma-jig, dimensionals and snail Trail

Again I used the sanded BG. I’m absolutely in love with it. It was my “Welcome to Stampin’ Up” gift from my fabulous upline Theresa Miers and I haven’t been able to put it down since….LOL.

My next card was the colour throwdown #3 and I’m not going to upload as I’m waiting on a Stamp Set to finish it and when it is done I will upload it. So stay tuned.

Lucky last is my Uplines very own design. You can see Theresas design on her site. But here is mine-

It’s gorgeous isn’t it! It’s also another Christamas Card veering away from Traditional colours. I loved it so much that it is nearly an exact copy, the only thing I did different was the wheel stamp. I love the Baroque Border. It’s a beautiful design and I like how it goes with the Season of Joy Stamp Set.  I used-

  • Stamp Sets- Season of Joy and Baroque Border Wheel
  • Cardstock- Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla and Spring Silhouettes PP
  • Inks- Blue Bayou
  • Accessories- Blue Bayou Double stitched ribbon
  • Tools- Dimensionals, Standard Wheel and Snail Trail

I stamped the main image twice, Once on Very Vanilla and once on Soft Sky, and then cut/punch out some of the elements in the soft sky and adhered them to the Vanilla to give it some lift!

Well that is what we got up to last night and it was heaps of fun I can assure you. I look forward to my visits with Theresa and hope there will be plenty more.

Thanks for looking!

Color Throwdown #7

This is my submission for the colour throwdown number 7. I had to raid my uplines goodies for this one. Thank you Theresa! I “borrowed” ink colours Bashful Blue and Ballet Blue and the True Friend Stamp Set. I had a lot of fun putting this together because I was challenged quite extensively. I have never before put together two blues on one card. Oh and do I love it!! I used-

  • Stamp Set- True Friend and Sanded BG
  • Cardstock- Bashful Blue, Apricot Appeal and Ballet Blue
  • Inks- Bashful Blue, Ballet Blue and Apricot Appeal
  • Accessories- Ballet Blue Ribbon

I stamped the Bashful Blue cardstock base with the sanded Background Stamp in the co-ordinating colour to give it some dimension and the same was done with the Apricot Appeal but I used the flower accent out of the True Friend Set. And the Ribbon separated those two beautifully and balanced the card nicely. Well I think so anyway….lol.

Thanks for looking!

Colour Throwdown #5

I liked the last colour throwdown so much I went back to check out the others, and the last one #5 has two of my favourite colours in it. Purely Pomegranate and Wild Wasabi. I don’t mind So Saffron either, it’s a very versatile colour.

Well this is what had come to mind when looking at these colours. The so swirly stamp matches a couple of the lovely labels stamps very well, it actually looks like a carry on of the swirls when put on top. I had fun putting this together……..AND it’s the first card I have made at home. I know that sounds weird but I have difficulty making them at home and at Theresas inspiration comes much easier. Is this a sign of things to come?? Can I make my cards at home??

  • Stamp Sets- Lovely Labels, Friendship Blooms and So Swirly jumbo wheel.
  • Cardstock- So Saffron, Purely Pomegranate and Wild Wasabi.
  • Ink- Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate.
  • Tools- Mat Pack, Dimensionals, Circle and Scallop punch.

I used the flower stamp from the Friendship Blooms Set, cut them out, and 3d them on to the swirls. Originally I didn’t have the Purely Pomegranate layered under the Wild Wasabi at first because I didn’t have enough left so asked my upline for a swapsy on some cardstock. I think it finished it off nicely. Thanks Theresa!! Your the best.

Thanks for looking!

A day with my upline…..

Theresa, my upline, and I had a great day together yesterday. I arrived at 10.30am and left around 5.30pm. We had coffee, lunched on sumptuous fish, chips and calamari mmmmm……. Oh and of course made some SU cards lol. It was wonderful. I even had my eldest daughter with me and she made some cards as well. You know what they say ‘Like mother, like daughter’. (or something like that) For a 7yo she is quite talented. It was her very first go and I will put a pic up of one of her cards as well.

Seeing as Fathers day was coming up we tried our hand at putting some together. I liked Theresasdesign alot, so it is very similar with a few subtle differences. Jemma used the same stamp but her own design.

This is my little beauty. I used

  • Stamp Set- Bronco buster, One of a kind, Weathered BG and bronco wheel.
  • Cardstock- Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Really Rust and Very Vanilla.
  • Ink- Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, Cranberry Crisp, Always Artichoke and More Mustard
  • Accessories- Chocolate Chip Ribbon.
  • Tools-Stamp-a-ma-jig, Wheel roller, Sponges and Designer label and circles punches.

The main image was mainly sponging with all ink colours listed with the positive of a circle used as a mask to give the sunset look. It was fun! Now for my little girls-

Isn’t it gorgeous!!

  • Stamp Set- Bronco Buster and Big Deal Alphabet.
  • Cardstock- Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie.
  • Ink- Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise and Bravo Burgundy.
  • Tools- Stamp-a-ma-jig and sponges.

She stamped the alphabet on to whisper white cs and then cut them out and stuck them down to give a little depth. The photo doesn’t do it justice unfortunately. She liked the sponging we were doing to ours and wanted to have a go as well. For her first card she did well and of course had a great time! When we got home dad asked how her day was and if she made any cards. She quickly slipped her fathers day one away and showed all the others she made on the day so not to ruin the surprise.  I’m pretty sure he didn’t catch on. lol.

But that is not all! There’s heaps to come. After our Fathers Day extravaganza we hunted down a colour challenge. Therese already had a blog saved to favourites and we came across color throw down 6. It was a great colour challenge. They were Barely Banana, Certainly Celery, Ruby Red, Soft Sky and Pumpkin Pie. This is what I came up with-

  • Stamp Sets- Pick a Petal, Curvy Verses, Polka Dot BG.
  • Cardstock-Ruby Red, Barely Banana, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Sky.
  • Ink-Ruby Red, Certainly Celery, Soft Sky and Pumpkin Pie.
  • Accessories- Certainly Celery Ribbon.
  • Tools- Designer label punch, snail trail tape, foam dots.

I had fun putting this together. I like my dots and spots, it gives things great texture and lift. The ribbon was easy to do. I just put down a snail trail to where I want it, start at the top, press down a little ribbon then lift it up, go down the ribbon about half a centre meter, then join it to the tape again. You can do it at all sorts of angles to give the zigzag look. It really lifts your work into 3d. You can also sew through the middle of your ribbon when it is placed to hold it down extra well and also give more texture. I love my curvy verses and think it goes really well with flowers. Also some of them fit really well in the designer label punch. Theresas design is beautiful of course! I love her work!.

Our next card was a colour challenge that Therese had. I think it’s one of her favourite colour combos. My result is this-

Unfortunately the photo is a little dark down the bottom around the bow, but I’m sure you can still see it. I really like stamps that have definitive edges and make very clear images. But I wanted to  extend myself and had a go at the petal prints stamp set (images leave watercolour effects). I really liked it when I had finished and as it turned out so did Theresa. You get a great feeling when someone has been stamping and card making a lot longer than you and tell you they like your card, you feel goooood! So I started to make one for her as well, but left to fetch lunch for us, so Theresa finished it. I used

  • Stamp Sets- Petal Prints and Always
  • Cardstock-Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla, Perfect Plum and Pale Plum.
  • Ink-Always Artichoke, Pale Plum and Perfect Plum.
  • Accessories- Always Artichoke Ribbon

The scallop was hand drawn then cut and tucked under the strip of Perfect Plum. I also sponged the main image to soften the image. On the vanilla I used the positive image of the stem and placed pale plum images randomly to also soften the Vanilla. It has to be one of my favourites so far since joining the SU team.

Lucky last! This is not my own design but I saw this one on Splitcoast Stampers done by angelladcrockett and just had to do it. It is a little different to the one on Splitcoast but not much. lol (I liked it that much).

  • Stamp Sets- Bodacious Bouquet and Always.
  • Cardstock- Real Red, Old Olive and Whisper White.
  • Ink- Old Olive, Real Red and Apricot Appeal.
  • Tools- foam dots, circle punch and snail trail.

I didn’t ‘rock and roll’ the little blossoms but opted to sponge the edges instead. I also decided not to use the ribbon and just stamped the sentiment under the arrangement of flowers. I think it is a very bright and beautiful card and really cheers you up!

Thanks for looking! I will have some scrapping posted up next!!
