Birthday Time!

Hello everyone!

Today is my eldest daughters birthday. My beautiful, gorgeous, kind, and hip daughter, Jemma! Who loves to get kisses by her youngest brother, Darcy

Lat year her favourite colour was purple, well this year it is black and pink. So her card and presents are decorated so.

The ‘in’ thing lately seems to be hexagons, so I thought I would have a play with them on this card. I don’t have any sort of hexagon punch or die so I knew I had to create these from scratch when I realised our Stampin’ Up! Dimensionals were the perfect size and shape.

The splotches is just Whisper White ink refill being splattered over the left hand side of the card and I really like how that has turned out. I may have smudged a couple of drops but I was in such a hurry to finish as I have a few things to do today, being a birthday in the house and all.

Thanks for dropping by!

Festive Friday Challenge #22

Hello everyone!

It is Festive Friday Challenge time and it’s a sketch…

and here is my creation

I have always loved the large Christmas Baubles in the Letters to Santa DSP pack, which are the same images as the stamp in Merry and Type but bigger. As you can see I stamped the image in the background. I used colours, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, Old Olive, and Riding Hood Red. I also tried to keep this card simple with few layers and limited stamping. I used some simple tools to make the card come to life though. I used the distressing kit and inside that kit I used the sanding block and files on the DSP and the Tea Stain Ink on the card base and image panel.

Don’t forget to link your creation to this challenge over at Nicole’s blog and I look forward to seeing them.

Festive Friday Challenge #20

Hello everyone!

Time for a Festive Friday Challenge. This week we have an Inspiration photo…..a real pretty one at that.

Isn’t that just gorgeous?! It took me a while to think about what I wanted to do. My thought process is so out of whack. All I could see was the Candy Canes, LOL!

This is my creation

As you can see I made some candy canes, lol! I also used the colour scheme and the ribbon. I used the flourish out of the Always Elegant stamp set in the background, the idea was to make the candy canes ‘pop’ off the page and also to make it a bit more elegant. I think I succeeded! I used the stripes embossing folder for the bottom half of the card to break up the simplicity.

Now don’t forget to head on over to Nicole’s blog and submit your creation and share it all with us.

Thanks for dropping by!

Finally a Rosette!

Hello everyone!

This is the very last card I created at retreat, there is no more to show. I will have to show you what I have been making at home for the past couple weeks next time.

This card wasn’t a challenge, but I saw someone else make one and decided to make my own. These rosettes seem to be the “in thing” at the moment and I can’t miss out on it. LOL!

I used the stamp set Spiced Paisley and Fabulous Phrases. Colours used are Soft Suede, Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz and More Mustard. The designer brad is a Pool Party Printed brad. I think I might make some more cards with this rosette, I think it is awfully cute! LOL!

Up in The Air

Hello everyone!

Another retreat card to share. Are you sick of them yet?! LOL! This was another challenge card. the challenge was make a card with butterflies and bling. Love that combo so that really wasn’t a hard challenge.

I used a couple of different stamp sets, Elementary Elegance, French Foliage and Up in The Air. The main image is from Up in The Air, though. After completing the card I thought it would have looked better if I did the flowers in Wisteria Wonder and the butterlies in Concord Crush. But that’s okay, I still like it.

Bright Birthday Blossom!

Hello everyone!

I’m back again! I have cheated however. I made this card last week with the Spiced Paisley ‘Hello’ card. But I think it better I share them individually rather than all at once. Otherwise there would be no eye candy for a whole week. LOL!

On that day I decided to play with some stamp sets that I haven’t really played with a lot since getting them. Build a Blossom was one of them.

As you can see I also used the Spiced Paisley Stamp Set. Hahaha! Seem to be a new favourite of mine. I didn’t see that coming! I used the strip of circles stamp out of the Spiced Paisley Stamp Set to create the BG on the Very Vanilla and the biggest paisley for the Perfect Plum base. The other two colours used are Lucky Limeade and Red Riding Hood. A rather cute combo I think.

Best Dad Birthday!

Hey everyone!

Before I show you todays delicious stamping eye candy I just wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes for a happier 2012 for the Brown family on my last post. I wish you all a fabulous and prosperous 2012 as well. I plan on making this year less stressful. I am going to cut back on some things and do more of others. I just have to figure out exactly what those things are! LOL!

I know one of them would be to join another DT because I am already missing Inkspirations. I love challenges. So I am going to keep my eye out for that one.

Speaking of challenges the card I am showing you today was the last card I made for Inkspirations but we finished with challenge #100 this one was #101 and it was a colour challenge. Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso, Marina Most and Whisper White

I love this combo! I am also very happy with how this one turned out. Hopefully my dad will like it too.

Another challenge I have set my self is to get back into my scrapping a bit more. I miss my scrapping nights and hope to restart them. There is nothing like getting together with other scrappers and spend a night a week scrapping into the wee hours of the morn. A lot of chocolate was consumed on those nights. LOL! Maybe that’s what I am missing?! hahaha!

Anyway thanks for dropping by!

Inkspiration Challenge #98

Hey everyone!

I am super excited!!! Tomorrow I am leaving for Rockhampton to my sisters’ for two weeks to help her with her first baby which is due today. I hope she holds out until I get there! LOL! I am going to be an Aunty for the first time and like I said I am super excited. I might even bring back my little nephew with me, but shhhhhh my sister doesn’t know yet that I night be stealing her baby!!! LOL!

Anyway todays challenge is a colour one

I am really happy with my creation. I had a play with Stitched Stockings a stamp set available in the brand new Summer Mini.

I also used the stamp set I Dig You for the presents. Pretty cute idea huh? I am sure I am not the first to think of it though. LOL! The Christmas tree branch is from the Tags Til Christmas set. I just used my Old Olive marker to ink with. Super easy.

Make sure you check out the rest of the DT’s creations at the Inkspiration Challenge Blog and of course to submit your design.

Oh by the way, even though I am going away for two weeks I will still be doing the challenges. I have worked ahead and have organised scheduled posts. So do come back and check them out.

Thanks for dropping by!

Inkspiration Challenge #96

Hey everyone!

I must apologise for being so late in getting my post up. It has been one crazy week I can assure you! lol! This weekend is to be different and no one is going to change it on me……NO ONE!!!

Anyway, on to this weeks Colour Challenge.

I first thought Christmas but I was in the mood for a Baby card, not that it had anything to do with the fact that someine had ordered one, LOL!

I finally used Elebration! This has to be the cutest darn stamp I have ever seen. My friend needed a Congratulations card and I think Elebration is for 1st birthdays, but I still wanted to use it. I decided to make a present out of CS and I then used it to cover the Birthday cake in between the Elephants legs. Pretty cute huh?

Don’t forget to check out the Inkspiration blogspot to see the DT’s creations and of course to submit your own.

Inkspiration Challenge #95

Hey everyone!

I have finally made it back for an Inkspiration Challenge! I bet you were starting to think I quit the DT….lol! Well I only missed two, but it felt a lot longer than that. I reckon it’s because I missed all the comment love I usually get. I love to get an encouraging comment now and then, not to mention when someone admires my work and, my favourite part, that I have inspired them in some way. So I just want to thank all the lovely people for their lovely comments, all 3,625 of them. Yep that’s right, it is that many. I was just checking out my stats today and came across this and it also told me how many posts I have done since starting this here blog (this one included, 502), plus how many subscribers I now have, an amazing 267 people. I am just gobsmacked. I also noticed recently that I broke my record number of hits in one day recently not just once but twice. How super-duper is that. The record is now an amazing 1, 360 I think that is just awesome! Again thank you all for all of your support over the years and the wonderful friendships I have made along the way.  You all are the reason that I am inspired to create and to share the thing I love.

So anyway back to why I am here….an Inkspiration Sketch Challenge -

I am not entirely sure what I wanted the end result to be, lol! My first thought was Shabby Chic with the Kindness Matters SS, but it started out clean and crisp. and the main panel was distressed. So in conclusion I was undecided and ended up mish mashing both styles! LOL!

I used Kindness Matters, French Foliage {love} stamp sets. I stamped the butterflies twice, one for the base and another to cut out, colour a little with a blender pen and then layer onto the first image.  I also used two different DSP’s, one piece of Cajun Craze Patterned DSP and some of the First Edition {another love}. Colours are Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Baja Breeze and Very Vanilla. I don’t mind this combo but I am not entirely sure I pulled it off on this card. You know what ladies…….I must be going through a style change! It’s exactly like when you hit puberty, things are changing, things are looking a little odd, your tastes change and you’re wondering where it’s all heading! So that’s it, the description fits anyway!! LOL!

Don’t forget to go over to the Inkspiration Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the DTs creations and of course to submit your own!

Thanks for dropping by!
